Gramzies Helps Preserve Your Memories EffortlesslyFriday, August 29, 2014
This is a sponsored post.
Long ago and far away, I used to be a photographer. I did portraits in a commercial studio, and photography was a big part of my life. When my son was born, I would fill rolls and rolls (remember those?) with photographs of our life, our family and friends, and the places we traveled. I loved getting back the printed film, flipping through the results to find the most stunning photos for display in an album or a frame. Back in those days, you couldn't pick and choose the best photos for printing, so there was a lot of wasted paper.
Begin the digital age...At first, you could have your rolls transferred to disc, and print just the ones you wanted. I would end up taking the disc home, uploading it to my computer, and printing my favorite shots at home. The quality wasn't great, but it was convenient.
With the popularity of digital cameras came the most convenience of all: You could keep only the shots you liked and upload directly to your computer, no middle-man needed! From there, you could print them yourself or send them off to an online printer.
At first, I would send my best shots to be printed, but after a while, with the sheer volume of shots I had, that kind of petered off to nothing, because unlike with film, the number of photos you can take is unlimited. I would upload them to Facebook for friends and family, print a few to mail to grandma...and then forget them completely. Sad, but true.
The invention of Instagram gives us a place to share our most cherished shots, but not just that, we can crop, correct color, and apply filters to give them the perfect mood. But these beautiful shots remain completely virtual. If something were to happen to Instagram, lots of people would lose their photos completely, because they rely on Instagram for online storage of their photos.
There's a service I came across, and I thought it was such a great idea, I wanted to share it with you: Gramzies. Gramzies is your personal Instagram photo printer. Like an assistant to grab your Instagram posts, print them professionally, and deliver them to you each month for $4.99 a month! You take the pictures and post your favorites to Instagram; they take care of the rest.
Here's how it works:
- You tell them where you want your pictures sent. To your home, work, or to a friend, or maybe even to grandma.
- Tell them how to choose the photos: Based on 'likes', or based on 'most recent' pics. If you want to choose which ones get printed, you can tag any of your photos with #gramzies and it goes to the top of the priority list.
- Give Instagram permission to share your photos with Gramzies for printing. They then grab 10 photos from your account each month, print them & ship them to you. Easy and completely automatic!
Gramzies would make a wonderful gift for a friend or family member, and at $4.99 a month, it's super-affordable. It's actually less than one of my favorite drinks at Starbucks, and I can stop feeling guilty for not printing out all of my photos; someone will do it for me! Worth it.
