I'm Learning French with the Pimsleur Approach - French I Gold Edition {Review}

I received a free audio course in exchange for writing an honest review. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

One thing you might not know about me is that I'm from the South...kidding. You might not know that I'm originally from a tiny, bayou town in super-Southern Louisiana. I haven't lived there since I was a child, but it stays with you; the culture, and unfortunately sometimes, the accent. I picked up a lot of things from living there, but what I never picked up from a family of French-speakers, was French...bon Dieu.

I remember my father telling me that he learned fluent French from his father. The method he used: refuse to speak in English until my father was fluent. Sheesh. I remember my dad tried that with me in a grocery store when I was 10. It was "Passe-moi les petits pois" and "Mettre le maïs dans le panier" until I wanted to scream. Um...a little too late for that method, I think.

I was so embarrassed that I didn't understand my supposedly native language, that I thought learning languages was a pretty hopeless cause. I've had High School Spanish and German (you notice I didn't take French?), but I was pretty bad at those too. I am enamored by travel and other cultures, and I've always wanted to learn, but thought I had to be "one of those people."

You may remember I reviewed the Pimsleur Approach Spanish I Gold Edition course, and had such great results with the method that I decided to try French.

And as with the last set, this one came gorgeously packaged.

So I started my course a few weeks ago and I'm doing it! I'm learning French! Although my accent may be a little more proper than my family's, I am fully learning how to communicate in French! It still amazes me that it's even possible, but it's all thanks to the Pimsleur Method; It really does work.

The Pimsleur Method was developed in 1963 by world renowned linguist, Dr. Paul Pimsleur. "His painstaking research led to the development of two ground-breaking principals - the Principal of Graduated Interval Recall and the Principle of Anticipation. By incorporating these two revolutionary, yet simple principles...[it] delivers results more rapidly and effectively than any other language learning method in the world...."

The Promise:
Use the Pimsleur Approach to start speaking a new language in only 10 days! Strike up basic, every day conversations and enjoy amazing your friends and shocking the locals! Pimsleur courses took over 40 years to develop and perfect. Just sit back, respond and let the audio guide you. Each CD has been scientifically sequencedto rapidly lock language material into your brain after just one listen. You'll absorb your new language easily without any reading, writing or computer use.
The Result:

The Pimsleur Method truly works for me; Someone who thought they were just "not good at languages." If I hadn't given it a try, I might have never learned. I highly recommend these courses.

It looks like there's only one left right now, but you can find the Pimsleur Approach French I Gold Edition on Amazon for about a two-thirds off the retail price! These sets sell for $345 elsewhere!

Bon apprentissage!
