I received a Bluebee Pals Zebra in order to facilitate an honest review. No other compensation was received and all opinions are my own.

#BluebeePals: Your Loveable, Bluetooth Buddy {Review}

Have you seen Bluebee Pals yet? They are adorable stuffed animals with bluetooth connectivity. You sync your Bluebee Pals with your favorite Android or Apple device and they sing along to your music, read your stories, and can take phone calls with you! Talk about cool! I was sent a Bluebee Pals to review and I'm dying to show you this hot holiday toy that's now available at Toys R' Us!

Intriguing, right? I was sent Riley the Zebra:

Our Bluebee Pal arrived in a colorful box telling you all the features and showing the other available Bluebee Pals. Any kid would freak a bit when seeing the box and my daughter was no exception!

We weren't sure who we'd get, so we opened the box to find Riley the Zebra inside!

My daughter was ecstatic as she loves zebras, and he has such a rockstar mane. He is larger than I thought he'd be at 13" high, and so soft! My daughter loved playing with his hair (little girls, amirite?)

And since he IS an electronic toy, he came with a USB to Micro USB charger cord and a complete instruction manual.

Simply open the velcro on his back to reach the simple controls. There is an On/Off switch (pretty basic), and a micro USB port with a charge indicator light. Easy, right?

Simply turn him on, plug him into a USB port to charge, and once he's done you're ready to connect to your device. Connecting is easy and I'll show you how.

If you hadn't noticed, Riley has an embroidered patch on each ear. The left ear is the Bluetooth Connect button and the right ear answers the phone.

Once you're ready to connect to your device, hold down the Connect button until you hear a chime. Then look under your device's Settings under Bluetooth. On our iPod touch, I only had to touch the Bluebee Pals name to connect. It may take a few minutes, but once connected, your Bluebee Pal will chime again and is ready to rock!

The process was slightly different on our Microsoft Surface 2 tablet, but I just went to the control panel and clicked "Add a Device", then it automatically detected the Bluebee Pal as a speaker and added him. (Sidenote: I'm sure there was an easier method, but I don't speak Windows 8.)

Omigosh this thing is cute! My daughter geeked out over it and now wants to play all her games with him! This is rated for ages 3+. She is 7, so I can tell you the age of interest goes much higher than 3. My 14 year old acted like he was waaay too cool for it, but then started playing around with it. Busted.

We played apps with him and he was a cute little companion for my daughter. He's compatible with the iStorytime app, and will read your child's stories aloud. Your Bluebee Pal even comes with 4 free book downloads to get you started (Madagascar, Robin Hood, Smurfs, and Ice Age.)

When he's synced to your smartphone, you can answer and end a call by pressing his Phone ear, and he'll lip sync to whoever's talking! Both the speaker and microphone are in his belly, so they can talk directly to their Bluebee Pal and even carry it around with them while talking! So cute!

I made a video showing you how Riley sings. Maybe I should have picked a song without background singing since he was trying to sing it all, but I just couldn't resist. Don't worry, it's Safe For Work. And Kids. Just not Germany, apparently....

Note for readers in Germany: I am so sorry you can't view this video. It was banned from YouTube users in Germany because of the song I used. IDK why, Germany. It's a great song....

You can choose from Leo the Lion, Lily the Lovable Lamb, Riley the Zebra, Sammy the Bear, or the brand new Winston the Puppy.

Get a Bluebee Pal for yourself this holiday season (or your kids, if they can stop you playing with it long enough) at Toys R' Us or online at

They would make an excellent gift, and I highly recommend them. A+ toy!
