Southern Mom Loves: Holiday Toy Roundup: My Little Pony + Equestria Girls #PlayLikeHasbro

Holiday Toy Roundup: My Little Pony + Equestria Girls #PlayLikeHasbro

Friday, October 30, 2015

I received free toys from Hasbro to write about. All opinions are my own.

My Little Pony is one of my daughter's favorite cartoons, and for good reason. It promotes friendship and kindness, but is also funny and beautifully animated. It's worlds away from the My Little Pony cartoons we grew up with. So in addition to the backpacks, lunchboxes, and clothing, my daughter also collects the dolls and figures, not just from MLP: Friendship is Magic, but she's also a fan of the Equestria Girls movies, the newest of which, Friendship Games, just came out in September.

Because of her love of everything MLP, I know exactly what she'd like to find under the tree this holiday season. If your little ones (or your Bronies) are fans, these new MLP toys from Hasbro would be the perfect addition to their wishlist.

#1 My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Sweet Apple Acres Barn

My daughter's favorite pony right now is Applejack (Yes, it changes about once a year!), so the Sweet Apple Acres barn is the perfect playset. It includes the Crimson Gala and Granny Smith (my favorite) figures, and Granny even comes with her rocking chair and walker!

Besides the barn playhouse, it also includes some cute (and tiny) items to have your very own picnic, like a table and blanket, tiny food items, a squirrel, and of course, a bushel of apples.

Recommended for ages 3+ as this has some small items in it that could be choking hazards for toddlers. Retails for $19.99.

#2 My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, Friendship Games - Sporty Style Twilight Sparkle

Uh-Oh. Is Twilight Sparkle on the Shadowbolts team?! If you're familiar with the Equestria Girls storyline, the pony princess Twilight Sparkle pursues the thief of her crown through a magic mirror and ends up as a girl version of herself in the human world. She then meets all of the real-world counterparts of her pony friends...but never runs into the real-world Twilight Sparkle. Well, in movie 3 we finally find out that it's because the girl Twilight Sparkle attends a rival High School, and is competing against the Wondercolts in the Friendship Games.

So now that you're all caught up, THIS is the newest line of Equestria Girls dolls that your kids will be drooling over for the holidays!

Twilight Sparkle comes fully dressed in her outfit from the games, along with 7 accessories like her bow and arrow, glasses, and a medal that you can scan via an app to unlock and play the character. Look for all of the Equestria Girls you know plus some new characters.

Recommended for ages 5+. The Equestria Girls app works with iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and select Android devices. Retails for $19.99.

Look for these toys at Walmart, Toys R Us, Target, Sears, and all other major retailers nationwide.
