Hi, guys! I'm here with the Allure Beauty Box unboxing for October 2020. This month's box was stuffed with products from The Nue Co., Verso, Static Nails, Dr. Jart+, Sigma, La Roche-Posay, Wilma Schumann, & Rusk, including 3 (4?) full-size products. I'll walk you through it + I've got FULL SPOILERS for November's box. Let's unbox it!

If you're new to these unboxings, Allure Beauty Box is a monthly beauty product subscription box that has a mix of makeup, skincare, haircare, and (sometimes) perfume and nail products.

UPDATE: Allure has changed! You now get 6 or more products valued at $100+ (previously 5 or more products valued at $70+) with at least 3 full-size items (previously at least 2). The new cost is $23/month (previously $15) or $250/year (previously $165) and the shipping is free.

You can see all of my past Allure unboxings here.

You definitely get more for the price increase but for those who just wanted to treat themselves but are in the financial lurch with this pandemic, now is definitely not the time to be increasing your prices. It's reading to me as very tone-deaf.

If you're not happy about the price change (I don't think I'll be renewing when my year is up), you can check out the Ipsy Glam Bag here for $12/month (my Ipsy unboxings are here).

Allure Beauty Box - October 2020

This month we have another box design change. I have to admit I like this one better. It's bolder and looks more like a "subscription box" if that makes sense.

When you open it, there's a little magazine right on top telling you all about the products inside and every month there are exclusive discount codes included in the booklet for some of the box products.

I used to give the codes for each month but it was a lot of work and I felt like nobody was wanting/using them? Do you want these codes every month for the box brands? Let me know and I'll start listing them again.

First out of the box is a full-size The Nue Co. Topical C Skin Supplement ($70).

"Topical - C is a powdered vitamin c supplement for your face. Proven to boost collagen, fight sun damage, and firm skin, it dissolves + activates when mixed with your existing moisturizer or face serum. Applied daily, skin appears brighter with less visible fine lines + wrinkles."

So, this is a powdered Vitamin C additive to your regular moisturizer. I've seen this kind of product before but wasn't sure how to use it. This is kinda really smart! I think this will be a great product to cut down on your routine or the number of products you put on your face.

I am a user of Vitamin C/retinol but they shouldn't be used together. The warning from the site: "To avoid redness, don't use it at the same time as glycolic, salicylic acid or retinol-containing products." So I would use this in the AM and use your retinol in the PM.

Allure boxes have been killing it these past few months. It may be that that is when the price changed?

Next out is a very large sample (?) of Verso Super Eye Serum ($65).

"Verso Super Eye Serum rejuvenates the delicate skin around your eyes for a more refreshed appearance. Amino acids nourish and fortify to tone and reduce puffiness while smoothing the appearance of creping skin. Powered by Retinol 8 complex, this eye serum features a potent dose of retinol to help firm and soften fine lines, wrinkles, and crow's feet without the irritating effects of traditional retinol formulas."

So...first, about the size. I truly thought this was a full-sized product when I opened the box because it is .67 oz. large tube and eye creams typically come in a 1/2 oz. size. When looking it up, I saw that the full-size is in a 1.01 oz pump, so whichever you get, this eye cream will last you forever.

Next, my impressions: This is a fancy eye cream, y'all. The full-size is $80 and contains a retinol complex to help with fine lines and says it won't irritate. Also, it's supposed to help with puffiness and crepey skin. ALL things that I need so I'll be giving this one a try.

Next out is a bottle of Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer in Irene ($16).

"A breakthrough formula loaded with rich pigments and natural antioxidants for a healthy manicure that actually lasts up to 10+ days without chipping when paired with Static Nails Liquid Glass Primer and Top Coat."

This polish is a gorgeously soft, dusky mauve. My photo doesn't do it justice; It's really pretty! Static Nails' formulas are non-toxic, 8-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. They're supposed to be healthier for your nails by promoting growth, hydrating, and strengthening. They're also supposed to be long-lasting (with their base and top coat.)

I've been thinking of transitioning out of wearing acrylics. I do them myself, so there's no problem with not being able to get to a salon these days, but my nails get so weak and damaged underneath that I want to cover them back up asap. The biggest benefit is only having to do my nails once a month, but I miss pretty polish colors so much!

Have any of you done the transition and have any tips for the grow-out period?

Next out is a pretty big sample of Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream (1.69 oz. tube is $48 so this .33 oz. sample is worth approx. $9.60).

"Deeply moisturizing ceramidin cream supercharged with 5-Cera Complex to strengthen the skin barrier and shield from water and moisture loss. Dr. Jart’s proprietary 5-Cera Complex (Ceramides) provides long-lasting moisture and improves the condition of an irritated skin barrier in extreme climates. For normal, dry and very dry skin experiencing dryness, itchiness, roughness and discomfort."

I say "pretty big sample" because I've received a sample of this before (in an old Sephora Play box) but the tube was tiny. Like, Barbie-sized tiny. This one is at least twice that size, so it's more of a "deluxe" sample size or travel size.

So, I've actually used this one for a bit before. I can't remember when exactly (maybe when I gave my face a slight chemical burn?) I was desperately searching through my stash for something basic and unscented to soothe my face that wouldn't sting. (I was in bad shape, y'all!) I started using this sample and it was so great. Soothing, hydrating, and non-irritating.

Side note: I later tried the Sunday Riley Ice Ceramidin Cream and it felt and even smelled just like this one. I love Sunday Riley but they can be a bit pricey. This is a great dupe for that cream at $48 vs. $65 for the exact same amount.

Next out is a mini Sigma Liquid Lipstick in Venom (.2 oz. is $20 so this .05 oz. mini is worth approx. $4.94).

"Rock a classic, red carpet-worthy lip! This lightweight satin-matte lip color features a deluxe hydrating formula and provides extreme color payoff in one saturated swipe."

This color is an absolutely stunning red! It's got more blue so it's a very cool-toned true red. Those are the reds that look best on me so I'm really excited to use this one.

Swatching Level: 0. Sorry, y'all. I got excited. 😆

Next out is a sample of La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm AP+ (13.5 oz. is $19.99 so this .05 oz. sample is worth approx. $.75).

"This body cream moisturizer for dry skin to extra dry skin features a unique prebiotic action on the skin microbiome. It is clinically shown to reduce dry, rough skin, and provide daily relief. Accepted by the National Eczema Association. Suitable for babies as young as two weeks. From the #1 Body Care brand in European Pharmacies*."

So, as I was writing this up, I was itchy. If you don't know, I have very dry skin and it gets extremely itchy (to the point where I have welts and bruising from scratching), especially during winter.

I just tried this on a dry, itchy patch of skin just to see if it worked and it stopped itching immediately! That's pretty good considering when it gets bad all over I slather myself in moisturizers/eczema cream and sometimes have to pop a Benadryl. At $20 for a large 13.5 oz. bottle, it's a pretty good value, too.

Next out is a pair of Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads (a pack of 5 is $18 so this pair is worth approx. $3.60).

"WILMA SCHUMANN Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads are formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and 100% Pure Collagen, designed to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and dry skin, while visibly improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Enriched with soothing Allantoin, the cooling gel masks work as an intensely hydrating treatment specifically for the delicate undereye area. Easy to use and non-irritating, you can expect revitalized eyes that appear younger looking and refreshed."

Ya'll know I will use these asap. 😂 They sound great so I'll enjoy the treat!

Last out (jeebus that was a lot this month!) is a bonus item: a sample packet of Rusk Puremix Native Fig Replenishing Shampoo & Conditioner (one 12 oz. bottle is $18 so these samples are worth approx. $1.01).

"RUSK® PUREMIX Native Fig Replenishing Shampoo is formulated with fig, vitamin C, E and calcium to gently cleanse and replenish hair’s moisture levels while softening and detangling, refined oats for strength, & quinoa proteins for color protection. Leaving you with healthy-looking hair. Free of Sulfates, Parabens, Silicones, Artificial Colorants, Gluten, & Cruelty."

These were just a bonus item, but y'all know how I feel about these shampoo packets. At least they included a conditioner! 😂 These are pretty big so I might be able to squeeze out 2 uses on my super-long hair. I'm a fan of Rusk so I'll give this one a try. I've gone sulfate-free already so it won't take as long of an adjustment period to see some results.

(P.S.- The full-sized bottles are 2 for $26 at Ulta!!!)

So that was the full October Beauty Box from Allure. The box costs (now) $23 per month and this one had a value of approximately $170.90!!!

This box had one of the highest values I can remember getting in a long time but it was also good (it seems like sometimes subscription boxes throw in crappy items that have a higher price just to drive up the value.) I usually go through a sub box and have at least 1 item I'll be giving away but this one is all mine, mwahahahahaaaaa!

What do you think about this month's box and the price increase?

SPOILERS AHEAD! Allure Beauty Box November 2020 items:

November's Box will include:

This looks like it's going to be another good box. I'm not crazy about liquid eyeshadows (maybe I haven't tried a good one yet?) but this one says it can be used as a liner and the color is a pretty bronze. I'm always down for more masks and we have more high-value skincare.

The New Member Gift right now is:

New members will receive an AMOREPACIFIC Time Response Eye Reserve Creme as the bonus item. I'm guessing it's a sample size because the full-size is $260. 😳

The Mega Beauty Bundle gift, free with a 1-year subscription, is still available but it changed a bit to be 16 items with a $253+ value. If you didn't catch my unboxing video of the mega gift bundle, you can find that here.

I hope you enjoyed this month's unboxing! You can get the Allure Beauty Box for yourself here.
