Hi, all! Hope you're having a great summer. I'm back with an unboxing of the IndieStitch Box for July 2024! IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for sewing enthusiasts that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project, plus a few fun extras. This month we'll be making a loose, flowy tank top that you can style all summer. I also have a fantastic discount code for you and a spoiler for the August pattern! Let's unbox it!
About IndieStitch
Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.
That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.
It's also a fantastic box for sewing beginners who want to jump into making their own clothing. All of the projects offered in the boxes are for a "confident beginner" so even if you're fairly new to sewing, you can complete these projects.
IndieStitch does a step-by-step Sew Along for each pattern that is uploaded to the Membership Hub every month. In addition to that, the Facebook group sew-along is another way to learn and share and ask questions; It's a lovely little community!
Even if you're a beginning beginner, these kits are 100% doable.
Subscription Options
As you can see above, there are 12-month, 6-month, and 1-month plans and the cost per box goes down with the longer plans. This year we get a new option to pre-pay for the plans for an added discount!
Plus, you can use the code SOUTHERNMOM50 to get 50% off your first box on the 6 and 12-month plans! That's a HUGE savings!
How Does It Work?
- When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month. The size ranges are incredibly inclusive!!!
- Once subscribed, you'll receive an email around the end of the month (28th - End of Month) to choose the fabric for the next month's pattern.
- Your box ships out around the 4th of each month.
- You can choose to sew it up on your own using the pattern instructions, use the video tutorials provided in the IndieStitch Membership Hub, and/or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group starting on the Monday around the 14th.
- Your membership will renew for the next month between the 13th - 15th.
- The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)
- If you don't like the pattern for the month (or you already have it), you can choose from a past project or swap the pattern out for extra fabric/notions.
There is an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past boxes, fabrics from past boxes by the half-yard, notions, and the Mystery Pack, a limited-time mystery package of fabrics, tools, notions, threads, and sewing swag from past IndieStitch boxes for just $30!
If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings here.
Monthly Free Gift!
If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects in the group is a great part of the box experience.
Since I completed the shorts pattern from last month, I've got a free gift to show you this month!
July 2024 Pattern
The pattern we're making this month is the Hathaway Tank from Blank Slate Patterns!
Stay cool this summer with the easy to sew and easy to wear Hathaway Tank. The woven fabric tank makes a great layering pieces in cooler temps as well. Since the sewing pattern is beginner friendly and fast to sew, you will find the Hathaway Tank to be a wardrobe staple.
Hathaway features:
- Scoop or V neckline
- Bias tape finished neckline and armholes
- Optional chest patch pocket
This is a great pattern for staying cool this summer and layering in all the other seasons. I love the v-neck style and plan on sewing this up in multiple colors.

This month we have 9 fabrics to choose from!
- White/Blue Stripe Cotton: 100% Cotton
- Sage Floral Rayon Crepe - 100% Rayon

The IndieStitch Box comes with a card on top that includes all of the pertinent information for the month including a code that you can use to download a digital version of the pattern and instructions. It gives you the current month's Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you to the sewing resources for the month. The flip side details the items in your box.
I love the floaty feel of a rayon challis and the rich purple color is beautiful!
Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. We have a spool of matching Gütermann thread and two of the correct type and weight of sewing machine needles for our fabric.
Next out is our printed pattern, the Hathaway Tank from Blank Slate Patterns. It's printed on thick copy shop paper so the pattern will last through many uses.
Next out is my Free Gift for completing last month's project on time and submitting it in the Facebook Group: Thread Snips! I've got a pair but mine are very rudimentary. These are a very nice pair of snips!
Next out is our 1st extra, a set of 3 Heat-Erasible Fabric Marking Pens! Neat! I've used disappearing ink pens and water-erasable pens but have never even heard of heat-erasable pens. That's one of the cool things about this box: they introduce me to cool new sewing notions I never knew existed!
Next is our 2nd extra, a package of 5 Hook-and-Loop Cord Wraps! These are an item I never thought I needed but I'm already using them to velcro my sewing pedal cords to the table legs so the pedals won't migrate so far while I'm sewing. Is that a problem for anyone else or just me?
Last out is our 3rd extra, a Heat Resistant Hem Ruler! I've been meaning to pick up a smaller gridded ruler but this one is heat-resistant, which will come in handy when you're turning and pressing hems. Very cool!
That was the IndieStitch July 2024 box. I really love getting these boxes every month with a cool new clothing project and handy sewing notions, straight to my door. It's always a fun surprise to see what the extras are and they're always good. I'm planning on sewing up a quite few of these cute tanks for the hot weather and for layering this fall!
I absolutely love that they include everything you might need to just get down to sewing, including the correct fabric type, thread, and needles for your machine. We also get a cool, indie pattern. This box is a treasure for home sewists!
