IndieStitch March 2026 Unboxing
Inside the box, the card on top lists all of the information you need for the month's project, including a code to download the instructions + a digital version of the pattern for free (you will get the printed pattern in your box).
It also gives you this month's Community Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you directly to the Indiestitch Hub for the month's video tutorial and resources. The other side details the items in the box and gives you a spoiler for next month's pattern.
First out is the fabric. I chose the Off-White Modal Jersey.
This jersey is so silky and soft, y'all! This will be the softest tee I've ever owned! I'm tempted to lengthen this into a sleep shirt but I really want a comfy tee I can wear out of the house. Decisions, decisions.
Next are the notions to help us make our pattern this month: a spool of matching Gütermann thread and two ball-point needles for knits in the correct size for the fabric weight.
We also got a Marking & Cutting Knits card. If you saw last month's unboxing, we got an Interfacing Guide card, and I love this idea! I'm so happy to see it continuing. It's a mini sewing lesson and a great add-on to the boxes.
I've been sewing for many years, but after a long hiatus, I do forget things. Should I use a sew-in or fusible interfacing for this fabric? What is the best way to finish this edge? Instead of flipping through all of the sewing books in my library, it would be nice to have a little card catalog of quickie tips.
Next out is our printed pattern, the Oversized Tee & Hoodie from Ellie & Mac. It's printed on thick copyshop paper, making it more durable to use (and reuse) for years to come.
Next is our 1st extra item, a 3-pack of chalk pencils! "Mark fabric with these water-soluble chalk pencils. The set includes three colors: pink, blue, and white. Each pencil features a protective cap and an attached brush for removing marks. Marks wash out with water or brush away easily."
Next is our 2nd extra item, a Ring Thread Cutter. "This ring-style thread cutter fits on your finger, allowing you to cut threads while keeping both hands free for sewing. The sharp edge cuts cleanly without fraying. Wear it during sewing, quilting, embroidery, or other thread-based projects for quick access to cutting."
Last out is our 4th extra item, a Sheet Mask. I love a good mask; Such a nice little self-care treat!
____________________________
That was the IndieStitch March 2026 box. We got the fabric, notions, & pattern for a super-cute, oversized tee-shirt for the warmer months ahead. It's super-versatile and can be made with long sleeves and a heavier fabric for cooler weather or shorter sleeves and thinner jersey for a summer staple. It will make an excellent transition piece for spring!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
So far, we know that the April sewing pattern will be the All Buttoned Up Cardigan from Patterns for Pirates!
Meet one of the most versatile pieces you’ll ever put into your closet! The All Buttoned Up pattern is packed full of classic options that can take you from a short-sleeve crop in the summertime to a long-sleeve knee-length dress in winter. Wear it buttoned up like a top on its own or open, layered over like a cardigan. Its slim silhouette is flattering for a piece on its own, over a layer, and can be easily layered under outerwear for even colder times.
The back seaming means you don’t have to worry about any pooling around your lower back. You can switch from crew neckline, scoop neckline, or v-neckline to have the perfect match to any outfit you need a layer for. Construction is meant to give you the easiest and best-looking cardigan without any finicky steps that cause stress.
