I received a complimentary box from IndieStitch in order to facilitate an unboxing post. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links.

Hi, y'all! I'm back with an unboxing of IndieStitch, a monthly apparel sewing subscription box, for September 2026. This month, we'll be sewing up a knit dress with an integrated curved pocket detail + a few sleeve and hem options, and we chose from 7 cozy fabrics that are perfect for Fall (or for the holiday season ahead!)

I'll show you everything that came in this month's box + I have the current promotion and a spoiler for the October pattern. Let's unbox it!

About IndieStitch

IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for home sewists that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project and learn some new techniques!

Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.

That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.

Subscription Options

The subscription is month-to-month, $86 per box. Once subscribed, you will get the option to pre-pay for 6 additional months for $430. That will bring the per-box price down to $71.67, so it's a great way to get a discount! If you don't see the offer pop up, check for the upgrade option in your account.

There is also an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past project boxes, fabrics, and sewing notions.

If you'd like to see some past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings here.

Monthly Free Gift!

If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Community Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects is a great part of the box experience, and getting a little gift in your next box is so sweet!

  1. Olive Vintage Waffle Knit — A richly textured olive waffle double knit with extra-generous stretch. 99% polyester, 1% spandex.
  2. Black/Red Plaid Double Knit — A classic red-and-black plaid in a stretchy double-knit jacquard. 88% polyester, 10% rayon, 2% spandex.
  3. Mauve Cozy Rib Knit — A soft mauve rib knit with comfortable four-way stretch. 77% polyester, 18% rayon, 5% spandex.

  5. Brown/Orange Houndstooth Knit — A warm, autumn-ready houndstooth double-knit jacquard in brown and orange. 97% polyester, 3% spandex.
  6. Burgundy Stretch Velvet — A rich burgundy stretch velvet for a dress with a little extra drama. 92% polyester, 8% spandex.
  7. Navy Plaid Double Knit — A timeless navy plaid double knit with rayon for added softness and drape. 74% polyester, 22% rayon, 4% spandex.

Inside the box, the card on top lists all of the information you need for the month's project, including a code to download the instructions + a digital version of the pattern for free (you will get the printed pattern in your box).

It also gives you this month's Community Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you directly to the Indiestitch Hub for the month's video tutorial and resources. The other side of the card details the items in the box and gives you a spoiler for next month's pattern.

First out is the fabric. I chose the Burgundy Stretch Velvet.

I had a hard time choosing the fabric this month so I opted for the velvet, which I have never sewn with before, so it will give me a challenge. It's very soft and drapey, and the color is a pretty purple-red. It will make a great dress to wear for the holidays!

Next are the notions to help us make our pattern this month: a spool of coordinating Gutermann thread and two ball-point needles for knits in the correct size for the fabric weight.

We received a 'Knit Fabric Basics' Sewing Reference card for this month. These cards are a great mini sewing lesson!

Next out is our printed pattern, the Vail Dress from Styla Patterns. It's printed on a thick copy shop paper, making it more durable to reuse for years to come.

Next is our 1st extra item, a Sewing-Themed Notepad. "Keep your sewing notes and ideas in one place with a Sewing-Themed Notepad! Perfect for jotting down project notes, measurements, shopping lists, or sewing reminders. A fun and useful addition to your sewing space that's always ready when inspiration strikes."

Next is our 2nd extra item, a Mini Travel Sewing Kit. "Keep your sewing essentials together with a Sewing Travel Kit! Perfect for quick repairs, small sewing fixes, and keeping useful tools close at hand while you're on the go. A compact little sewing kit that's easy to carry and ready whenever you need it."

Last out is our 3rd extra item, a Sewing-Themed Nail File. Always handy to have around!
