Southern Mom Loves: Deep Dish Super Supreme Pizza {Recipe}

Deep Dish Super Supreme Pizza {Recipe}

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

If you thought I was done with pizza recipes, we're not even close. ;) If you remember the Super Supreme Pizza recipe I shared, this is similar, but in a deep dish crust. You can really put anything you want on this pizza because the star is the crust; It's easy to whip up with no waiting time for rising. You put it in a cold oven and the crust rises and cooks while the oven pre-heats.

So if you're in a hurry and you don't have a batch of this Easy Freezable Pizza Dough thawed, a quick deep dish pizza might be just what you need to get dinner done.

Total time: 50 minutes

Ingredients:

Crust
  • 3 c. All-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. fast rise yeast
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/2 c. olive oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. white pepper
  • 2 tsp. basil
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp. dehydrated onions
Filling
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Toppings (You can use anything you like)
  • 2 c. Mozzarella cheese
  • pepperoni slices
  • black olives
  • pineapple
  • quartered artichoke hearts
  • jalapenos
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese

Directions:
  1. DO NOT pre-heat your oven!!!
  2. Line an 11/14 lasagna pan with aluminum foil (easy clean-up!) and spray with cooking spray.

  3. In a large bowl, combine all of the dry crust ingredients, then add in the wet. Mix thoroughly.

  4. Dump the dough (it will be very wet) into your prepared pan and spread evenly.

  5. Combine the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and minced garlic with a whisk. Spread about 4 Tbsp. of this mixture over the crust evenly (the rest can be frozen and thawed for future pizzas), then top with the sliced onions and bell peppers.

  6. Cover with the Mozzarella cheese, then your remaining toppings, finishing with the Parmesan cheese.

  7. Put your pizza in the middle rack of a cold oven, then set it to 350 degrees F. Bake for 30 minutes until cooked through and browned on top.

Enjoy!
