I'm crazy about gift baskets for the holidays, both getting and giving them. Instead of just buying a gift, I like to put together a fun basket centered around what a person likes. This basket is for the Mani/Pedi maniac and includes all the tools she'll need for a fabulous manicure and pedicure. A homemade element is the perfect touch, so I've included my recipe for an amazing Peppermint Foot Balm that will soften and invigorate rough, tired feet and have even designed fun gift tags for you to attach to your own homemade balm!

The most essential part of putting together the perfect gift basket is finding the gift or gifts that you'll build the rest of the basket around. Once you find them, the rest will come together easily.

My basket is centered around some awesome mani/pedi tools. The Amope® Pedi Perfect Extra Coarse Electronic Foot File that will exfoliate those rough spots and the Amope® Pedi Perfect Electronic Nail File that will make shaping, buffing, and shining nails a breeze.

You can get the Amope® products at Target stores. Look for them on an end cap in the Health & Beauty section. Find out more about them here, then get the Cartwheel offer here for 10% off all gadgets from 11/13/16 through the end of the year!

Once you have the main gifts, think of what else she'll need to do the perfect mani/pedi. I included a foot brush, a travel set of mani/pedi tools in a cute case, a pretty nail color, a pair of warm, fuzzy socks, and my DIY Peppermint Foot Balm.

This balm only has 4 ingredients and is as easy as melt, mix, and pour. Once it solidifies again, it is the thickest, richest, most nourishing balm for dry hands and feet.

For this balm you'll need shea butter, olive oil, coconut oil, and Peppermint essential oil. You'll also need a pretty container to put it in. You can buy one or clean and re-use a pretty candle jar. This recipe makes 10 ounces of balm, but you can easily halve it for a smaller jar size, or double or triple it if you want to make this and gift it to everyone!

DIY Peppermint Foot Balm

I made this into a handy-dandy video, so watch that below, then try your hand at making your own balm!

For 10 oz. of balm, you’ll need:
  • 3/4 cups of shea butter
  • 5 Tbsp. of olive oil
  • 5 Tbsp. of coconut oil
  • peppermint essential oil to your scent preference
  • and a pretty container

  1. First we’re going to set up a double boiler with around an inch of boiling water in a small to medium-sized pot.
  2. Dump your ingredients into a large metal or glass mixing bowl and set over the boiling water to gently melt the ingredients together.
  3. Whisk until completely melted and remove from heat.
  4. Let your ingredients cool down for about 5 minutes, then add in your essential oil. I used around 60 drops of the peppermint oil to get a good, strong peppermint scent.
  5. Pour the balm into your container and allow to set, or you can also place it in the fridge or freezer to speed this process along.
  6. Once congealed, keep your balm at room temperature to keep it creamy and spreadable.

These tags will help you add some polish to your product. Download and print the pdf here (better quality than printing the photo below) onto some heavier cardstock. I've included four tags on the sheet because it makes such a wonderful homemade gift!

Just cut them out, fold in half, punch a hole through the corner, thread a pretty ribbon through, and tie to the neck of your container. The directions for use are on the back and there is space inside for a personal note.

Now to put it all together. You'll need a basket and either shredded craft paper or tissue paper. Make it into a base inside your basket and fill it with your gifts!

Anyone who loves a mani/pedi would love to get this basket! Give the gift of soft, beautiful feet and naturally shiny nails this holiday season to someone you love!
