Southern Mom Loves: New Year, New Fresh-Faced & Awake Makeup Look!

New Year, New Fresh-Faced & Awake Makeup Look!

Thursday, January 11, 2018

It's a new year and I'm refreshing my everyday makeup routine. I've been under the weather for weeks now, so appearing fresh-faced and awake is a priority for me. I've come up with a fool-proof routine using cosmetics with benefits because as I grow older, I just don't have time for anything less. Keep reading for my complete fresh-faced and awake makeup tutorial and some great discounts from Neutrogena®.

As I age, my skin just seems to get drier and drier. I'm no longer able to wear powder or matte foundations because they settle into my lines and make them look much worse.

When I heard about the new Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Cosmetics I couldn't wait to give them a try. The whole line contains moisturizing hyaluronic acid that boasts lip-quenching conditioning and a hydrating foundation that's better for your skin than wearing no makeup at all!

This makeup look is fresh and clean and uses a minimal number of products so that you can get out of the door in the mornings, fast!

I'm using:
  • redness relief eye drops
  • Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment
  • Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint
  • Hydro Boost Concealer
  • eyelash curler
  • Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black
  • Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine in Radiant Rose

The first step is keeping my lips hydrated. The more hydrated they are, the plumper they appear. Winter dries me out terribly, so I apply the Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment every night before bed.

Brighter eyes make you look wide-awake, so a redness-relief eye drop is a must before putting on any makeup.

The next step is a foundation to help even out my skin tone. The Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint is a light-coverage foundation with skin hydration built-in.

It is barely-there so it doesn't feel (or look) like you have a ton of product packed on. If you want more all-over coverage you can build it up or just touch-up with concealer.

The Hydro Boost Concealer is buildable coverage with a hydrating core.

I use it under my eyes to cover those dark circles and on any blemishes, red spots, and around my nose and mouth. If you prefer a less dewy finish, you can apply a light dusting of translucent powder to set your makeup at this point.

Another tip for wide-awake eyes is to use an eyelash curler. Always use it before your mascara to avoid damaging your lashes and crimp once at the base of the lashes, then slide it up to crimp them again for a little extra curl.

I adore their Healthy Volume mascara because it will make your lashes look thick and lush without drying them out or making them hard and brittle. Always sweep your lashes straight up instead of to the side to make your eyes appear wider and more awake.

The last step is lips and I chose a shade closest to my lip color to keep the natural vibe going. The Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine is my new fave because it really does do a lot to keep my lips moisturized during the day and makes them look so much plumper. LOVE!

Pop it in your purse and you have a makeup multi-tool with you for lips, cheek, and lid color in a pinch.

Neutrogena® also has a new line of SkinClearing Cosmetics for those that need their makeup with breakout benefits. You can check out that line here.

You can find everything Neutrogena® at your local Walmart store! They also have a new SkinClearing line.

Happy New Year, New you, guys!!!
