Hey, guys! I'm here with the unboxing of my Boxycharm for January 2021. I'll tell you a little about Boxycharm, all of the products that could be in the #BoxyFreshStart box, what I got in mine, plus I've got SPOILERS for the February box and a coupon code so you can get some free products, too!

About Boxycharm

If you haven't heard of Boxycharm, they send out 5 full-size beauty items ranging from makeup and skincare to beauty tools and color cosmetics, and each box has a minimum value of $125. Sometimes the value is much, much more.

It costs $25 a month and has free shipping in the contiguous US. You can also subscribe for 3 months, 6 months, or a year and get a bigger discount for a longer subscription, so you could pay for a year upfront ($275) and end up getting it for $22.92 per box.

You can see all of my previous BoxyCharm unboxings here.

January Box Products

First, let's take a look at every product that could be in the January boxes. I wanted to show you this so that you can see what everyone could possibly get. Some are repeats from past boxes but you'll never receive the same product twice.

You take some pretty in-depth quizzes when you start and that should influence what comes in your boxes. FYI, if you're a member they've changed the quizzes a bit and there's a new Hair Quiz, so make sure to go in and re-take them!

It's been kind of hit or miss for me over the last year. Sometimes they hit it out of the park with the perfect picks for me and sometimes...well, they don't. This month it seems like they pared down the possibilities to 16 total items.

So, let's unbox January!

Boxycharm January 2021 Unboxing

The box includes a card on top telling you about the items in your box and their values, and the January box theme is Fresh Start.

First out is the Choice item. I chose the PUR 4-in-1 Tinted Moisturizer in LN2 ($35).

"A multipurpose, all-in-one Broad Spectrum SPF 20 moisturizer, primer, foundation and broad spectrum SPF protector that’s an effortless beauty routine must for an ultra, natural-looking complexion."

I've been wanting a good tinted moisturizer (the Purlisse one I received in a previous Boxy was the incorrect color for me). I like PUR's products and this one seems like it will be nice. It's got a barely-there complexion smoothing tint and it feels like a hydrating moisturizer without leaving my skin looking greasy. I like it!

"This refreshing, water-light daily toner contains a blend of salicylic acid, moringa water, and papaya enzyme to help reduce shine and minimize the look of pores. Ideal for combination and oily skin, the formula effectively exfoliates and cleans pores to reveal a healthy-looking complexion."

If you've been reading the blog for a while, you know that I loooove Pixi's Glow Tonic toner because it's formulated with Glycolic Acid to help clean pores and exfoliate with the "toner" step (which I never really saw a use for on its own). I just opened that Youth To The People Sample from my last Ipsy bag (and I love Farmacy) so I'll be diving into this one soon. ❤️

"Boost hydration and glow with this protective lip mask formulated with Apricot, Jojoba and Rosehip oils that work synergistically to keep lips chap-free, soothed and plumped at the same time. Made with Green Apple & Pineapple extracts which are rich in enzymes to help rid lips of unsightly dead skin cells and fine lines. 100% vegan & paraben-free, this nourishing overnight lip treatment is also crafted with rich Shea Butter in order to condition & repair dry, flaky skin. Can also be used during the day as a powerful healing lip balm."

My lips have been so chapped and rough lately so this was great timing.

I expected it to be thick like my fave Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask but it was fairly thin and oily with a protective balm-like layer left over after it soaked in. I wasn't sure how well it would work but after using it 3 times in 1 day my lips are no longer chapped and very soft. I'm a convert! It also smells heavenly, like fresh apples!

"Essential oils of sweet orange and coconut give this lip balm it’s citrusy, tropical aroma and silky-smooth consistency. Sweet orange is packed with vitamin C, which is known to even skin tone and protect against free radicals. Coconut is a natural emollient that moisturizes for soft, supple lips. Mint is refreshingly uplifting and has a gentle plumping effect."

Because of the extreme chapped lips, this was another that I tried immediately. It smells amazing and has a nice slippery-but-protective feel to it, I just wasn't prepared for the mint. It's not terribly strong but the combination isn't my favorite.

I think I'm most annoyed about the price, though. For a $33 lip balm, they shouldn't be sending out wonkily-printed tubes. Is it just me?

"Create molten metal and matte looks with the Ciaté London Velvet Palette. Featuring a mix of hyper metallics, soft shimmers and velvety-smooth mattes, the innovative powder formulation delivers high pigment with super soft application. The velvet-to-touch pink hues, pigment-laden burnt embers and shimmer-packed rose golds make this a palette for all occasions and skin tones, taking you from day to night in an instant."

Ooh! Look at this pretty baby!!! Not crazy about that orange, but 11 out of 12 ain't bad! This is a beautiful palette from the wave pattern to the pretty mix of colors and mattes/shimmers.

These pictures just don't do it justice. The top-right shade is a deeper peachy-pink and so many of these are just my speed. I have a feeling I'll be reaching for this one often.

Okay, so they killed it again. The eye palette is gorgeous, the lip products are good and much-needed right now, I got a great face makeup product and a great skincare product. I'm very happy with their choices for this box, I just wish the boxes weren't so hit or miss.

The value of the BoxyCharm box I received was $151!

This isn't a sponsored review post so I don't have a customized discount code for you but I do have the most recent BoxyCharm coupon codes!

SPOILERS AHEAD!

So far we know that February's box will include a choice of:

I wasn't blown away by the February choices.

I would have loved a nice brow kit but they include a concealer and a brow highlighter and there were only 3 color choices. If you have light skin you must have light brows? If you have dark skin you must have dark brows? IDK.

The Ace Beautè palette was from a previous box and is just not my style, so I guess you know which one I chose. I'll see you with that unboxing next month!
