I Tried Smoothie Box! {+ a Code for $10 Off & Free Shipping!}
Tuesday, November 2, 2021I received a complimentary box from Smoothie Box in order to facilitate an honest review. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links.
I started out buying ingredients fresh, then washing, prepping, and freezing them on cookie sheets before bagging them up into single servings. It was a lot of work!
I then started buying frozen fruit to try to save some time but it was still a lot of pricey food and extras to buy and store, like peanut butter powder, whey, various nuts and seeds, and fermented greens.
I came across Smoothie Box and thought it was so awesome! They sell pre-prepped, chef and nutritionist-approved smoothie mixes that include a great mix of superfoods; Just add your favorite liquid and blend! You can also add in a protein powder, collagen, or anything else your little heart desires. It's so easy and much more cost-effective than buying all of those ingredients yourself.
They sent me a box of flavors to try out and I couldn't wait. I broke out the blender, some coconut milk, and notified the family that we were having a smoothie day. :)
It's so easy to order. You can purchase one box at a time or set up a subscription and have them delivered at the frequency you want.
Just choose your flavors (they have Cacao, Green, Berry, Clementine, and a new one, Strawberry Banana), a protein or collagen booster if you like (they have Vegan options!), and they ship it to you fast. Also, all of their packaging materials are biodegradable or recyclable. Love it!
Each flavor's box contains 5 individually bagged smoothie mixes and each bag makes 2 servings. I received Cacao, Berry, Clementine, and Strawberry Banana.
I got a Vanilla Whey Protein with my order. They also offer a Chocolate flavor and each flavor is also offered in a vegan option. Adding in Protein will help make a more filling and well-balanced meal. Their Vanilla Whey Protein has 13g of protein per serving with no added sugar.
I started with a Clementine smoothie.
Look at those ingredients! This is real, whole food, not dried, powdered ingredients. You can see the clementine slices, sweet potatoes, carrots, and pumpkin seeds! They also include "chips" of frozen pureed ingredients. This one has ginger, coconut milk, coconut water, dates, and lemon juice to maximize the nutrition and flavor. Everything is organic and ready to blend!
I wish I had a better blender but it still came out crazy-good! The taste is predominantly orange and ginger and I loved it!
The Cacao contains bananas, zucchini, kale, sunflower seeds, and frozen "Cacao Chips" made from a blend of real cacao nibs and powder with coconut cream and coconut water. It's rich and chocolatey but the cacao is a tad bitter. The vanilla whey is naturally a little sweet, so it balanced it right out.
The Berry contains blueberries, strawberries, cauliflower, raw hemp seeds, and frozen "berry chips" that contain beet juice, banana puree, sweet potato puree, and lemon juice. This one was my daughter's favorite. She is crazy for blueberries!
ALL of their smoothie mixes were complex and richly flavored. My absolute favorite was the Clementine (I love ginger!) but they were all good.
The only flavor I didn't get to try was the Green smoothie with tart Granny Smith apples, spinach, avocado, and pineapple. It sounds scrumptious. I know I'll love that one, too!
I think I'm going to try a dollop of peanut butter in the Cacao next. They have lots of flavor add-in suggestions on their site with tasty recipes using their mixes. Try some oats, yogurt, maple syrup, cinnamon, almond milk, vanilla extract, cashews, matcha, granola, or honey! There are so many combinations!
