I received a complimentary box from IndieStitch in order to facilitate an unboxing post. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links.

Hello, everyone! I'm back with the IndieStitch Box for June 2023! IndieStitch is a monthly box for sewing enthusiasts that provides you with everything you need to complete the month's apparel project, plus a few fun extras! Since all of the planning and shopping is done for you, it's a great way to be able to get down to the fun part. I've also got a spoiler for the July project and a fantastic 50% off discount code for you! Let's unbox it!

Setting you up with everything you need, month after month, to sew your own clothes.

"Hi, I’m Amber! I created Indie Stitch so that you can make your own clothes even if your days are long and your hands are busy...Sewing your own clothes, choosing to create something with your hands, and the happiness that comes from wearing your new outfit feels incredible. It’s an accomplishment worth celebrating.

When I worked for boutique shops sewing clothes and bags, I realized something: it was easy and straightforward for me to finish those projects because all of the materials were sent to me. The thread matched, I had the right type and amount of fabric, and the patterns were printed and ready to go. All I needed to do was sit and sew."

That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.

Subscription Options

As you can see above, there are 12-month, 6-month, and 1-month plans and the cost goes down with the longer commitments. The "First Box" price shown above for the 12-month and 6-month plans includes a 30% discount, but I've got an even better discount code for you at the end of this post!

How Does It Work?

When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month.

Once subscribed, you'll receive an email around the end of the month (28th - End of Month) to choose the fabric you want to use for the next month's pattern. The boxes ship out around the 4th of each month. You can choose to sew on your own using the video tutorials provided or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group on the Monday around the 14th.

Your membership will renew for the next month from the 13th - 15th.

The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)

June Pattern

The pattern we're going to be making this month is the Sunday Romper by Love Notions

"Introducing the Sunday Romper that everyone can wear. The front and back v-neck openings allow for easy on and off. Front-angled pockets are super practical and look great! An elasticated casing at the natural waist makes this easy to fit and wear. Choose from a tank or dolman bodice. Five bottom options include 5″ shorts, cropped pants, full-length pants, maxi skirt, and knee-length skirt. This romper is meant for knit fabrics."

I love a cute jumpsuit and I'm so excited to make this up for so many uses! This can be a soft loungewear romper or a stylish jumpsuit. It can also become a summer dress or maxi. It's a super-versatile pattern, which are my favorite to get; I love being able to make up so many types of garments from one easy pattern.

June Fabric Choices

The fabric choices for this month are:
  1. Coral/Ivory Floral - 96% Polyester 4% Spandex
  2. Camel Swiss Dot Knit - 77% Polyester 23% Rayon
  3. Navy Stripe - 90.5% Rayon 6.5% Polyester 3% Spandex
  4. Pink Splatter Print - 96% Polyester 4% Spandex
  5. Coral/Ivory Stripe Rib Knit - 75% Polyester 20% Rayon 5% Spandex
  6. Charcoal Pointelle - 67% Polyester 28% Rayon 5% Spandex
  7. Olive Slub Jersey - 97% Rayon, 3% Spandex

The IndieStitch Box comes with a card on top that includes all of the pertinent information for the month including a code that you can use to download a digital version of the pattern and the instruction booklet. It gives you the current month's Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you right to the sewing video tutorial and resources for the month.

First out is the fabric. For this pattern, I received 3.5 yards of the Charcoal Pointelle. I had never felt a pointelle so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's almost like the feel of a waffle-weave fabric and it's a bit rougher than I expected so this will definitely be sewn up into outerwear rather than loungewear. The color is hard to photograph but it's not black, it's a dark grey.

I like the color and the drape will lend well to the long pants version of this pattern. I can't wait to sew it up!

Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. There is a spool of matching Mettler thread, a length of waistband elastic, and two of the correct machine needles for our fabric type and weight.

Next out is our printed pattern, the Sunday Romper by Love Notions. You can cut it out directly or trace off just the pieces you'll need in your size if you like to conserve your patterns.

Next out is our first extra, a sewing-themed Koozie. If you don't know what a Koozie is, it's a sleeve for a beverage can that will help insulate it to keep your drink cold. Perfect for a sewing room! I always bring a drink in and by the time I'm done, it's warm. This one says "Yes, I sew. No, I won't hem your pants." lol

Last out is our 2nd extra, an Elfa Touch Knife. You know, I've never seen of one of these. It's pretty cool and I can think of so many uses for it in a sewing room!

That was the IndieStitch June 2023 box! I absolutely love that they include everything you might need to just get down to sewing, including the correct fabric type, thread, and needles for your machine. We also get a cool, indie pattern. This box is a treasure for home sewists!

All of the projects offered in the boxes are for a "confident beginner" so even if you're fairly new to sewing, you can complete these projects. IndieStitch does a step-by-step Sew Along for each pattern, so even if you're a beginning beginner, it is 100% doable.

Plus, you'll learn so much just from watching and following along and if you have a question, you can always ask in the Facebook group. It's a lovely little community!

🛑 SPOILERS AHEAD! 🛑

So far we know that July's pattern will be the Double Take Tank by Winter Wear

"The Double Take Tank is a comfortable yet flattering top and is perfect for wearing alone or layering all year long.  This pattern is designed for woven fabric with no stretch.  The bust darts and shaped side seams flatter your curves in a loose silhouette.  The choice of Scoop or Racer back allows you to have a variety of looks.  This pattern can be finished with single or double fold bias tape.  The double fold is seen from the outside, and the single is hidden on the inside which results in a slightly deeper neckline and a narrower shoulder strap."

This looks like a cute woven tank and I like that there are variations for the tank back, neckline width, and length.

If you'd like to subscribe to IndieStitch Monthly Sewing Kits, you can get 30% off your first box on the 6- or 12-month plans, but the absolutely lovely owner offered something even better for my readers!

You can get 50% Off your first box on the 6- or 12-month plans with code SOUTHERNMOM50 here.
