These moist chocolate cake donuts are stuffed with chocolate chips and dipped, drizzled and topped with chocolate. Quadruple Chocolate Cake Donuts Recipe


Chocolate Cake Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Alternative: Chocolate cake mix and 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Chocolate glaze & add-ons:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons corn syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon shortening
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips, optional

Donut Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Grease a donut pan and set aside.
  3. Stir sugar with flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, and beat well.
  5. Slowly stir in boiling water until you reach a runny consistency. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, portion out the batter into the donut cavities.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes and allow to cool in the pan for one minute before turning out onto the rack.

Topping Directions:

  1. Combine butter, milk, corn syrup, and vanilla in medium saucepan and heat over medium heat until butter is melted. 
  2. Decrease the heat to low, add the 1/4 cup of chocolate, and whisk until melted. 
  3. Turn off heat, add the powdered sugar, and whisk until smooth. Place the mixture over a bowl of warm water and dip the doughnuts immediately.





  4. Sprinkle chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles on the donuts.

  5. Melt the shortening and remaining 1/4 cup chocolate in the microwave in 30 second bursts until smooth and runny. Drizzle the chocolate over the donuts quickly and let set before serving.
