A hostess gift is traditional during the holidays; It's a way to show appreciation for your host's hard work. The traditional gifts are usually ones to help with the hosting duties or for the guests, but what about after? Having been a holiday hostess myself, I would love a thoughtful and relaxing gift that would help me recharge during the holidays. Putting together a relaxing hostess gift basket is simple. I'll show you how to make the DIY Lavender Bath Salts I used in this one and I even created some pretty tags for you to print out!

The holidays are a wonderful time of year, filled with family and joy, but they can also be stressful. This gift will help her de-stress and find that holiday happiness again!

To fill your gift basket, first think of all of the things that help you relax. A deliciously hot bath with floral scents? A cooling eye mask? Filling your home with wonderful holiday smells? Check, check, and check.

For this basket, I went shopping for some fun bath & body products and decided to make one as well. To set the mood, I grabbed some of the new Glade® limited edition holiday scents: Shimmering Wonder, a pretty Plum Blossom scent, and Timeless Joy because what would the holidays be without a Woodland Spruce scent? Holiday scents like these give me a surprising burst of joy this time of year. Learn more about the new limited edition holiday scents here.

I grabbed a Glade® 9.2 oz. Large Jar Candle and the Glade® 3.4 oz Small Jar Candle at my local Kroger store. There is a large holiday display (handy, that) right at the front of the Seasonal section!

Look for the Shazam logo on in-store displays and packaging for a fun Spotify playlist, video content, and even a giveaway!

One of the easiest (and one of my favorite) homemade bath products are Bath Salts. Lavender is a natural for relaxation, so grab some essential oil and let's get started!

These tags will help you add some polish to your product. Download and print the pdf here (better quality than printing the photo below) onto some heavier cardstock. Cut it out, punch a hole in the corner and tie it on with some pretty ribbon. I've included six tags on the sheet because bath salts make wonderful homemade gifts!

DIY Lavender Bath Salts

Supplies:

  • Epsom salts
  • Lavender essential oil
  • a pretty container
  • optional: food coloring in your desired colors

Directions:

1. If you know how much Epsom salts your container holds, go ahead and measure that out into a large bowl. If not, fill your container before starting.

2. Pour the desired amount of salts into a large bowl.

3. Add in your essential oil to suit. I'm making 2 1/2 cups of bath salts, so I used around 40 drops of lavender oil to scent it strongly. Keep in mind that a small amount of salts will be dissolved into a large tub of water, so the more scent, the better.

4. If desired, you can add a few drops of food coloring before mixing well. You just want a hint of color in your container.

5. Pour your amazing bath salts into your container and you're all done!

The only thing left is to dress them up with a pretty tag. Print and cut out one of the tags I linked to above.

Tie it on with a ribbon and you have a gorgeous gift that any hostess would love to show off in her bathroom.

Put it all together in a basket with some matching tissue paper and you have a lovely, relaxing holiday hostess gift!

I hope you had as much fun putting this together as I did. Happy Holidays to you and your lucky hostess!
