Hey, guys! I'm here with an early sneak peek unboxing of the Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box for October and it has 6 fun essential oil recipes + ingredients, including one of my favorite DIYs to date: Essential Oil Candles!

I also have a code that will get you a Big Bonus Box and a $40 gift card to Simply Earth. Keep reading for that + the recipe & instructions to make your own custom-fragranced candles this Fall!

I am a sucker for candles. I always have one burning, not only for the way it makes the house smell nice, but the ambiance of candles is irresistible.

My SIL makes and sells soy wax candles and we used to make some over a fun night on her visits during the holidays. Once I found out how easy it was, I was hooked! You can totally do this!!!

Cassia, which smells similar to cinnamon, and Sweet Orange essential oils are included in October's box, and the scent of them together is beautiful; It's a spiced orange fragrance that's perfect for Fall!

If you haven't seen one of my Simply Earth unboxings yet, the Essential Oil Recipe Box is a monthly curated box of 4 essential oils with containers and ingredients to make 6 essential oil recipes.

They always have a timely theme and October's box is all about Fall favorites, but also has some great recipes/projects for pain relief.

They send me these boxes before they're up for sale to give you guys a peek at what will be available in the upcoming month, so if you like the box I'm showing you, wait until the end of the month to order it. If you still want to get last month's box, it should still be available unless they've sold out.

If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, you can find all of my Simply Earth unboxings here.

Today, we'll be making a cool DIY: Candles! They're so easy to make! I'll give you the recipe for the Cassia & Orange Candle that was included in this box, but you can scent these however you like. Balsam Fir oil was also included in this one, so you can start on your holiday candles, too. They would make fantastic gifts!

Now, let's unbox this month's box!

As always, the box includes a pre-printed sticker sheet so that you can label your DIY creations and also label the tops of your new essential oil bottles.

The recipe cards included in this month's box are:

  • Focus Lip Balm
  • DIY Aromatherapy Rice Bag
  • Fall Diffuser Blend
  • Joint Pain Roll-On
  • Cassia and Balsam Fir Candle
  • Cassia and Orange Candle

Included in the box are 2 lip balm tubes...

...1 wick for a candle...

...and 3 oz. of shaved Soy Wax.

The Essential Oils included in this month's box are:

The total value of this month's oils alone is $42.96.

I'm so happy to have these new oils for Fall. They're all perfect for the season and I've got a few ideas for that Balsam Fir for the upcoming holiday season!

Now, let's make something cool!

DIY Essential Oil Candle
Source: Simply Earth

Supplies:

  • 1  2-3 oz. glass jar or similar non-flammable container
  • 1 candle wick
  • 1/2 cup (1.5 oz.) Soy Wax
  • 1 Tablespoon Beeswax (included in Big Bonus Box)
  • 1 Tablespoon solid Coconut Oil (included in Big Bonus Box)
  • 30 drops Orange Essential Oil
  • 10 drops Cassia Essential Oil

I would also add that you'll need something to keep the wick steady as you pour the wax and while it solidifies. Takeout chopsticks are perfect for that and you can also use them to stir the wax mixture. You could also use a clothespin or any number of items in your home to hold the wick steady.

Directions:

1. Melt the soy wax, beeswax, and coconut oil in a double boiler. If you don't have one, you can place a glass or metal bowl on top of a smaller pot.

Place about an inch of water in the pot and bring it to a boil. Place the bowl with your ingredients on top of the pot and stir until they're fully melted.

2. Remove from heat and add in the essential oils. Stir for about 30 seconds until combined.

3. Dip the bottom of the wick into the melted wax and place it in the center of your container.

Prop the wick upright with chopsticks, a clothespin, a couple of knives, or whatever you've got that you can still pour the wax around.

4. Pour the wax into your container.

5. Allow the wax to cool completely, then trim the wick to about 1/4 of an inch.

6. Cut out the label and adhere it to your container.

How easy was that?! Making candles is so much fun and it's so simple to do yourself. You can also use the scents you like best, at the strength that you like best, and not pay an arm and a leg. It's a win-win-win!

If you like the upcoming October box and want to grab it for yourself, you can get it for just $39!
