How Does It Work?
- When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month.
- Once subscribed, you'll receive an email around the end of the month (28th - End of Month) to choose the fabric you want to use for the next month's pattern.
- Your box ships out around the 4th of each month.
- You can choose to sew it up on your own, use the video tutorials provided in the IndieStitch Membership Hub, or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group starting on the Monday around the 14th.
- Your membership will renew for the next month from the 13th - 15th.
- The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)
There is an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past boxes, fabrics from past boxes by the half-yard, notions, and the Mystery Pack, a limited-time mystery package of fabrics, tools, notions, threads, and sewing swag from past IndieStitch boxes for just $30!
If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings here.
November 2023 Pattern
The pattern we're making this month are the Arden Pants by Helen's Closet!
The Arden Pants are everyday high-waisted pants with loads of versatility. A classic elastic-waist pant with front and back pockets. Views B and C feature a jogger-style cuff in two different widths. The elastic waistband can be topstitched with a drawstring for a more casual look. We love wearing Arden all day, every day, and we know you will too. We bet you can’t make just one pair!
I was sure I was going to be making the jogger option to match the Hoodie from last month but once I saw the fabric choices I decided on the pants (with some modifications.)
November 2023 Fabric Choices
The fabric choices for this month are:
- Navy Poly Cey Airflow - 100% Polyester
- Red Poly Cey Airflow - 100% Polyester
- Olive Poly Cey Airflow - 100% Polyester
- Rust Viscose Linen Blend - 85% Viscose, 15% Linen
- Chambray Viscose Linen Blend - 85% Viscose, 15% Linen
- Black Viscose Linen Blend - 85% Viscose, 15% Linen
The first 3 fabrics are very drapey and soft while the last 3 are a bit more crisp.
IndieStitch November 2023 Unboxing
We've got a new design for the box this month! Very pretty.
First out is the fabric. For this pattern, I received 3.3 yards of the Navy Poly Cey Airflow.
It's so hard to photograph because my camera thinks it's black, but it is a beautiful, lightweight, slinky navy blue with a crepe-like texture to it.
It would make the perfect flowy, wide-leg pants so I'm going to do the trouser version of the pattern, lengthen the hem to the floor, and give them a wide leg. I think I'll also add belt loops and a short self-belt that ties at the front.
I think that's the best part about sewing your own clothing. Once you have a basic pattern, you can alter it to look any way you want it to!
Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. We have a length of 1.5" wide waistband and jogger hem elastic and a length of 3" wide elastic for the widest jogger leg hem.
Next out is our printed pattern, the Arden Pants by Helen's Closet. It's printed on thick copy shop paper so you'll be able to use it again and again.
Next out is our first extra, a Phone Stand. I've actually been thinking about getting one of these! This will be so helpful to hold a phone or a tablet in the sewing room.
Next out is our 2nd extra, a Bodkin bundle. I usually use a large safety pin so these will come in very handy!
Last out is our 3rd extra, a Tiiga Superfruit Electrolyte Drink Mix in Orange Mango. I love it when they send a little treat to enjoy while sewing up our pattern!
That was the IndieStitch November 2023 box! This was another great box with new treats for the sewing room and when I'm done, I'll have a stylish pair of pants to wear for Thanksgiving this year!
I absolutely love that they include everything you might need to just get down to sewing, including the correct fabric type, thread, and needles for your machine. We also get a cool, indie pattern. This box is a treasure for home sewers!
All of the projects offered in the boxes are for a "confident beginner" so even if you're fairly new to sewing, you can complete these projects.
IndieStitch does a step-by-step Sew Along for each pattern that is uploaded to the Membership Hub every month. In addition to that, the Facebook group sew-along is another way to learn and share and ask questions; It's a lovely little community!
Even if you're a beginning beginner, these kits are 100% doable.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
So far we know that December's pattern will be the Grab a Cuppa Oversized Cardi by Pattern Emporium!
The Grab A Cuppa Cardi is an oversized, dropped shoulder cardigan sewing pattern.
Whilst it's been designed to be worn with layers, this cardigan teams just as well over jeans/sweater or leggings/cami as it does with your favourite swimwear, denim shorts, or summer dress.
- 3 finished lengths - cropped, hip & long (mid-thigh).
- Cropped is tapered to the waist.
- V-neck with wide banded opening.
- Fabulously full sleeve, perfect for layering.
- Easy fit cuff.
- Wide banded hem band (not fitted).
- Leave it open or add buttons.
- Patch pockets.
- Easy short-sleeve pattern hack.
Another super-versatile pattern to make! I absolutely love an oversized, long cardigan to throw over leggings when I need to run out of the house quickly, but want to be covered. I also love a hip-length cardi with jeans or a cropped cardi with cinched-waist dresses. Yes, I already have a lot of cardigans, but I will be making lots more, lol!
