I received a complimentary box from IndieStitch in order to facilitate an unboxing post. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links.

Hi, everyone! After a skipped month, I'm back with an unboxing of the IndieStitch Box for June 2024! IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for sewing enthusiasts that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project, plus a few fun extras. This month we'll be making either shorts or a skirt that will be perfect for the summer weather. I also have a fantastic discount code for you and a spoiler for the July pattern! Let's unbox it!

About IndieStitch

Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.

That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.

It's also a fantastic box for sewing beginners who want to jump into making their own clothing. All of the projects offered in the boxes are for a "confident beginner" so even if you're fairly new to sewing, you can complete these projects.

IndieStitch does a step-by-step Sew Along for each pattern that is uploaded to the Membership Hub every month. In addition to that, the Facebook group sew-along is another way to learn and share and ask questions; It's a lovely little community!

Even if you're a beginning beginner, these kits are 100% doable.

Subscription Options

As you can see above, there are 12-month, 6-month, and 1-month plans and the cost per box goes down with the longer plans. This year we get a new option to pre-pay for the plans for an added discount!

Plus, you can use the code SOUTHERNMOM50 to get 50% off your first box on the 6 and 12-month plans! That's a HUGE savings!

How Does It Work?

  • When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month. The size ranges are incredibly inclusive!!!
  • Once subscribed, you'll receive an email around the end of the month (28th - End of Month) to choose the fabric for the next month's pattern.
  • Your box ships out around the 4th of each month.
  • You can choose to sew it up on your own using the pattern instructions, use the video tutorials provided in the IndieStitch Membership Hub, and/or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group starting on the Monday around the 14th.
  • Your membership will renew for the next month between the 13th - 15th.
  • The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)
  • If you don't like the pattern for the month (or you already have it), you can choose from a past project or swap the pattern out for extra fabric/notions.

There is an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past boxes, fabrics from past boxes by the half-yard, notions, and the Mystery Pack, a limited-time mystery package of fabrics, tools, notions, threads, and sewing swag from past IndieStitch boxes for just $30!

If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings here.

Monthly Free Gift!

If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects in the group is a great part of the box experience.

June 2024 Pattern

The pattern we're making this month is the Linden Shorts & Skirt from Sew A Little Seam!

The women’s Linden shorts & skirt PDF pattern is designed for woven fabrics with little to no stretch such as denim, twill, corduroy, and linen. There are four inseam lengths for the shorts: 3″, 5″, 7″ and 10″. The skirt comes in three lengths and both can be made in the jean or chino style. The jean style features curved front pockets, coin pocket, a back yoke, and patch pockets. The chino style features slant front pockets, back darts and welt pockets. They can be made with a contoured waistband and zipper or an elastic waistband and no zipper. There are also instructions for creating your shorts with structured knits like French terry.

The pattern comes with 16 pocket topstitching templates so you can add professional details to your patch pockets.

This pattern comes in sizes 00 (hip size 34″) to 28 (hip size 54″)

This is such a versatile pattern with not only the choice of a skirt or shorts, but various lengths for both and the option of Chino style, jean style, elastic waistband, or sewing it up in a knit! If you were looking for shorts that would give you a large variety of styles in one pattern, this is it!

If you have experience altering patterns, you could lengthen the knit option for lounge pants or joggers, the jean style for long skinny jeans, straight jeans, or flares, and the Chino style for trousers. I am stoked about this one! My daughter has already requested a few of the different shorts styles to wear this summer.

IndieStitch June 2024 Unboxing

The IndieStitch Box comes with a card on top that includes all of the pertinent information for the month including a code that you can use to download a digital version of the pattern and instructions. It gives you the current month's Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you to the sewing resources for the month. The flip side details the items in your box.

First out is the fabric. I chose the 100% Cotton Blue Chambray and we received 2 yards for the pattern this month.

It's not quite the lighter colored chambrays that I'm used to seeing but a more light-medium denim color. It's nice and thin for the summer weather but it also has a crisp hand.

Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. We have a spool of matching Mettler thread and two of the correct type and weight of sewing machine needles for our fabric.

We also received a large piece of sew-in interfacing, a heavy-duty jean zipper, and a slide closure to help us make our pattern up.

Next out is our printed pattern, the Linden Shorts & Skirt from Sew A Little Seam. It's printed on thick copy shop paper so the pattern will last for years to come.

Next out is our first extra, Duckbill Scissors! This is one notion I've been meaning to pick up. They have a wide, flat blade and the handles are off-set to help you get in close, comfortably. These will be great for grading your seams.

Next is our 2nd extra, a box of 25 colorful Class 15 bobbins! I always need more bobbins and this is such a great set. It comes in a clear plastic box that you could also use to store all of your filled bobbins in one place. Nice!

That was the IndieStitch June 2024 box. I really love getting these boxes every month with a cool new clothing project and handy sewing notions, straight to my door. It's always a fun surprise to see what the extras are and they're always good. I'm ready to sew up some shorts for summer!

I absolutely love that they include everything you might need to just get down to sewing, including the correct fabric type, thread, and needles for your machine. We also get a cool, indie pattern. This box is a treasure for home sewists!

SPOILERS AHEAD!

So far we know that July's pattern will be the Hathaway Tank from Blank Slate Patterns!

Stay cool this summer with the easy to sew and easy to wear Hathaway Tank. The woven fabric tank makes a great layering pieces in cooler temps as well. Since the sewing pattern is beginner friendly and fast to sew, you will find the Hathaway Tank to be a wardrobe staple.

Hathaway features:

  • Scoop or V neckline
  • Bias tape finished neckline and armholes
  • Optional chest patch pocket

As per an email from Indiestitch, for the months of May, June, & July, we'll be focused on flawlessly fitting the basics.

"IndieStitch kits are focusing on fit for May, June, and July with wardrobe building basics, tips, tools, and support for you to build your customized, handmade wardrobe. "

This will be a nice basic for our summer wardrobes, though, I love a good tank for layering at any time of year!
