IndieStitch July 2025 Unboxing + a 50% Discount Code & August Pattern Spoiler!

I received a complimentary box from IndieStitch in order to facilitate an unboxing post. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links. When you purchase through links on the site, I may earn a small commission, which helps me to bring you this content!

Hey, y'all, I'm back with an unboxing of the IndieStitch Box for July 2025! This month, we'll be sewing up a pair of cool Chore Shorts with multiple large pockets (that you can alter for your own chores or projects! That's the superpower of sewing!) I also have an exclusive discount code and a spoiler for the August pattern. Let's unbox it!

About IndieStitch

IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for home sewists that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project.

Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.

That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.

Subscription Options

As you can see above, there are 12-month, 6-month, and 1-month plans and the cost per box goes down with the longer plans. This year we get a new option to pre-pay for the plans for an added discount!

Plus, you can use the code SOUTHERNMOM50 to get 50% off your first box on the 6 and 12-month plans! That's a HUGE savings!

How Does It Work?

  • When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month. The size ranges are incredibly inclusive!
  • Once subscribed, you'll receive an email at the end of the month (usually around the 28th) to choose the fabric for the next month's pattern.
  • Your box ships out around the 4th of each month.
  • You can choose to sew it up on your own using the pattern instructions, use the video tutorials provided in the IndieStitch Membership Hub, and/or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group starting on the Monday around the 14th.
  • If on a monthly plan, your membership will renew for the next month between the 13th - 15th.
  • The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)
  • If you don't like the pattern for the month (or maybe you already own it), you can switch it with a past project you didn't get or swap the pattern out for extra fabric or notions. That way, you'll always get something you'll love to sew!

There is also an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past project boxes, fabrics, and sewing notions.

If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings so far, here.

Monthly Free Gift!

If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects in the group is a great part of the box experience and getting a little gift in your next box is so sweet.

July 2025 Pattern

The pattern we're making this month is the The Weekend Chore Shorts by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club.

The Weekend Chore shorts are a loose fitting, stylized utility short with fun pocket details. They feature a high rise gathered elastic waist, a 3 1/4" inseam and roomy apron style front and back pockets that match at the side seams, big enough to comfortably contain all your everyday items and more. Designed to look great in a single fabric or patchwork style.

These shorts are so cute and could easily be lengthened into pants or made to fit the chores you do the most, like adding a hammer loop to the side seam, a cleaning rag loop or a loop for the spray trigger of a cleaning bottle to an outside pocket seam, or adding a few parallel vertical stitches to one of the pockets so you can slip in screwdrivers, paint brushes, or other long, thin tools that would jangle around in a wide-open pocket. (Just remember to add a drawstring in the elastic casing so heavy items don't pull your pants down!)

July 2025 Fabric Choices

We have 7 different fabrics this month:

  • Red Horizontal Stripe - 65% Polyester 35% Cotton
  • Woven Black Slub Stripe - 65% Polyester 35% Cotton
  • Denim Chambray - 100% Cotton
  • Black Seersucker - 55% Polyester 45% Rayon
  • Khaki Green Viscose Linen  - 85% Viscose 15% Linen
  • Brown Viscose Linen - 85% Viscose 15% Linen
  • Kelly Green Viscose Linen - 85% Viscose 15% Linen

Inside the box, the card on top gives you all of the information you need for the month's project, including a code to download the instructions + a digital version of the pattern for free (you will get the printed pattern in your box.)

It also gives you the current month's Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you to the sewing hub for video tutorials. The flip side details all of the items in your box.

Next out is the fabric. I chose the Black Seersucker Stripe, and we received 2-1/3
yards of this 58" wide fabric.

This is more of a charcoal-colored stripe and it will be perfect for switching out the stripe direction on the pockets. It's a bit lighter than I expected so I would love to make this pattern in a heavier cotton twill, too!

Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. I got a long length of fusible woven interfacing in grey for the pocket tops, a length of waistband elastic, a spool of matching Gütermann thread, and two universal needles for wovens in the correct size for the fabric weight.

Next out is our printed pattern, The Weekend Chore Shorts by Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. It's printed on thick paper so it's extra durable.

Next out is our 1st extra item, a Flexible Ruler! I didn't even know these existed! I have a full complement of plastic curves and they take up a lot of room to store. I love the idea of this flexible curve ruler and can't wait to give it a try!

Last out is our 2nd extra item, a set of colorful Sewing Pins. Sewing pins get dull and get burrs that can snag your precious fabric. I love getting new sewing pins in my boxes!

That was the IndieStitch July 2025 box. We got the fabric, notions, & pattern for a pair of super-cute chore shorts to don for weekend projects and cleaning sessions. Another great box!

SPOILERS AHEAD!

So far we know that August's pattern will be the Ashton Top from Helen's Closet Patterns!

The Ashton Top is an all-season wardrobe staple that is easy to sew and style! Wear it during cooler months with jeans and a cardigan, or pair it with shorts for summer. The Ashton has bust darts and a signature A-line shape. View A is a hip-length top and view B is a crop top, ideal for pairing with high-waisted pants or skirts. Both views have the option to finish the neck and arms with an all-in-one facing or bias binding. The hem is finished using a beautiful hem facing. The Ashton makes a great stash-buster!
