5 Reasons to Switch Up Your Haircare Products

Not all haircare products are created equal. Some are created for dry hair, some for oily, some for curly, and some for colored hair. The sheer amount of products out there can leave you wondering which ones are right for you. If you find that your hair doesn't look as good as you would like, or as good as it did when you first started using your current products, it might be time to pull a switch up. Let's take a closer look at five reasons you might want to switch up your haircare products along with some recommendations.
Just like your skin may begin to dry out in the winter, your hair may need extra moisture as well. The harshness of dry indoor air and cold winter winds can suck the moisture from your hair, not to mention that the lower humidity levels may leave your hair brittle. In the winter, you may want to switch to a deeply moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. You may even want to add in deep conditioning masks and dry hair oils if that's not already in your hair repertoire.
Reason #2: You're Getting Major Buildup
Do you find yourself scratching your head and feeling massive buildup? You don't have to give up your favorite products but you should focus on getting your scalp squeaky clean periodically. If your buildup is so bad that it looks as though you have dandruff, those may not be the right products for you. Look for products that promise 'no buildup'. Always shampoo from the roots to the ends and condition from the ends to the roots, and avoiding coating your scalp with conditioner.
Reason #3: It's Not Right for Your Hair Type
As mentioned above, there are shampoos for different hair types. You want to make sure you're using the right shampoo for your type. If you start using one set of products that don't really work for you, it's time to move on.
You also want to make sure that if you dye your hair you're getting products that are safe for colored hair. This will ensure the dye isn't being stripped away with each shampoo to help your color look better for longer.
Reason #4: The Products Aren't Working as Well as They Did
Your products may have worked wonderfully the first few times you used them, but now your hair never looks its best. What went wrong? One problem can be product buildup, and it can have a major impact on the volume and bounce in your hair.
You can switch to new products temporarily, but if the product buildup happened very quickly, you may need to find a new favorite since you'll have to add in frequent deep cleaning to your routine to get the products to work as they should. Not worth it!
Reason #5: You Notice Changes in Your Hair
If you've noticed changes in your hair, it may be time to change your products. Some shampoos work great for some people, but not for others, and your hair will change during your life with hormone changes, with childbirth, illnesses, or due to aging. Play around with different shampoos until you find one that works for you. This is especially true if you have hair that doesn't fall into any one category.
I recently made the switch to Pantene's Pro-V Smooth & Sleek with Argan Oil line for the winter. It is deeply moisturizing for my dry, frizz-prone hair, and during the cold months, I need all of the moisture that I can get. I added in their Pantene Smooth & Sleek 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner and it's just what I needed.
Pantene has been in the hair business since 1945, and they have some of the best formulas for different hair needs on the market. Their shampoos and conditioners contain Pro-V nutrients to help prevent and repair the signs of damage, making hair so healthy it shines. They also smell amazing!
Whatever your hair type, there is a formula for you. I tried out the Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Collection because I have a huge frizz problem and they contain an antihumidity technology to lock out frizz and extend the life of your smooth style.
There is also the Daily Moisture Renew Collection designed for daily use to help repair dry, damaged hair, the Sheer Volume Collection designed to reinforce hair’s structure for a full, healthy look and features lightweight ingredients, and the Repair & Protect Collection, which can help repair six months of damage in one use and provide continued round-the-clock protection.
You can find all of Pantene's collections right on Amazon, so if you're as avid an online shopper as I am, you can save time searching the stores and have it shipped right to your door.
If you want your hair to look its best, consider switching up your haircare products. Pantene is a leading choice among women who want beautiful hair, and one of their formulas could be the perfect choice for your precious tresses.
