Make a Refreshing Cantaloupe Agua Fresca!

Cantaloupe Agua Fresca is a classic Latin American drink. It's super-refreshing and pairs well with Mexican-inspired cuisine. There's nothing like a delicious melon drink to cool you off during a spicy meal! It's pretty easy to make a pitcher to have on hand for those quick mom-doesn't-have-time-for-lunch lunches and I'll show you how below!


Agua Frescas simply means "fresh water" and can be made with virtually any fruit, melon, or even a cooling veggie like cucumber. It's made from the juice, mixed with sweetener, lime, and water, then served over ice.


You don't have to serve this with balled melon, but I love munching on the fruit, too. :)

This is the Barbacoa Taco Bowl. In this signature central Mexican dish, tender beef is roasted, then slow cooked with ancho, guajillo, and chipotle chiles. It's a little spicy and a lot delicious and was perfect with the agua fresca.


The other bowls are the Chicken Fajita Bowl, Tinga Taco Bowl, and the Veggie Taco Bowl. Each one was packed with fire-roasted veggies and deep, authentic flavor.


I got these at my local Kroger store in the International section of the Frozen Foods aisle.

Cantaloupe Agua Fresca

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe cantaloupe melon
  • 1-2 limes
  • 1 tbsp. sugar or your preferred sweetener
  • 1-1/2 c. water


Directions:

1. Slice the melon and cut it into smaller chunks.



2. If you have a juicer, you can juice the melon and skip the straining step, but if you don't, a blender will do.

Fill the blender with about half of the cantaloupe (if you can fit it all in your blender in one go, go ahead!) and add the sugar, lime juice (from 1 or 2 limes, depending on your tastes) and puree until smooth. Finish up by blending the second batch.


3. Pour the pulp through a fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth. You should get about 3 cups of juice from one melon.


4. Add the water, stir well, and serve over ice!


This recipe will make a whole pitcher of agua fresca that will go perfectly with your quick and delicious Frontera lunches!
