Southern Mom Loves: How I Keep on Top of Germ Season

How I Keep on Top of Germ Season

It's November and germ season has officially arrived. I'm big into prevention, but just as important as prevention is being prepared to deal with illnesses when they happen. My motto: Being prepared is not just for Boy Scouts. I'll show you just how to keep on top of germ season, especially if you're the one who's down with the sniffles.

I'm the mom that has everything anyone needs for any eventuality, whether it's a virus, tummy ache, nausea, congestion, fever, rash, or a sneeze. Dr. Mom is on call, but who takes care of Dr. Mom when she gets sick? Again, it's Dr. Mom, but she has a secret: she stocks up ahead of time.

There are few things more awful than having to drive yourself to the store feeling miserable and looking like you may have the plague, to peruse the medicine aisle, groggily trying to find something that will make you feel better while trying not to spread your germs around.

Did you know that you can stock up at Kroger during your regular shopping trip for all of your wellness needs now? Kroger will help you and your family be prepared for any seasonal sniffles that might arise, and you can take advantage of big savings during the month of November. You can have peace of mind knowing you have everything covered from itchy throats to fevers.

My stock-up choices start with the almost-impossible task of prevention. It is possible, but it takes diligence.

Did you know that there is such a thing as Kleenex Anti-Viral tissue? Yes, there is! Kleenex makes the #1 consumer preferred tissues, probably because they're affordable but still soft and thick; One tissue is all you need. You can encourage the fam to keep their germs to themselves. ;)

Next up is hand washing. This is a must. America's #1 Soap* makes Dial Complete Foaming Hand Wash, a foamy, scented treat that is antibacterial and kills 99.99% germs. The Fresh Pear smells amazing and leaves hands clean and your skin feeling soft and hydrated, so wash away!

Next, I prepare. I have always used plastic locking shoe boxes to store medicines hidden in the top of my bedroom closet. It's a bit out of the way, but out of reach is a good thing in a house with kids, and these containers will seal everything up nice and neat until you need it.

The containers themselves are super-cheap and you can find them in some stores for around a dollar each. Label the contents of each shoebox with a permanent marker or you can get fancy with pretty labels!

I have one for adult medicines, which we're focusing on today, but I also keep one for children' medicines and another for my sinus stuff. Yes, I need a whole shoebox for my sinus meds and gadgets alone, smh. Neti pot, anyone?

Now let's stock it!

Breathe Right Extra Clear strips are great for instant nasal congestion relief that's drug-free and opens your nose up to 38% more than decongestant sprays alone. They're the only nasal strip that uses 3M adhesive, so you know it won't pop off in your sleep, but the clear strips are easier to remove, which can be beneficial for people with dry or sensitive skin.

They simply help increase airflow so you can breathe better, even when your sinus passages are inflamed and that will help you sleep better and feel better the next day.

HALLS Cough Drops soothes sore throats and can keep you from hacking away when you've got that dry air tickle in your throat.

When you're sick and need relief, TYLENOL® Cold + Flu Severe Warming Honey Lemon Liquid is all-in-one symptom relief from Tylenol®, the #1 doctor recommended pain relief brand. The Warming Honey Lemon Liquid is a comforting warming liquid to tackle your tough symptoms by clearing congestion, quieting hacking, and relieving head and body aches. Feel better or your money back, guaranteed.

Theraflu Severe Cold & Cough Daytime Powders give powerful relief of your symptoms without a prescription.

Simply stock up, pack your tote (it's always good to include a thermometer!), and put it away for the inevitable. Germ season is here, so be ready to fight.

You can find everything in this post at your local Kroger or Kroger Banner store. Medicines are always in front of the pharmacy, Dial is in the hand soap aisle, and Kleenex is in the paper goods aisle. You can find more inspiring content here and get some stock-up savings here!
