Hi-a, y'all! I'm back with the unboxing for the IndieStitch Box for October 2024! IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for home sewists that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project. This month, we'll be making a super-cute ballet-style wrap sweater! I also have an exclusive discount code just for my readers and a spoiler for the November pattern. Let's unbox it!
About IndieStitch
Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.
That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.
Subscription Options
As you can see above, there are 12-month, 6-month, and 1-month plans and the cost per box goes down with the longer plans. This year we get a new option to pre-pay for the plans for an added discount!
Plus, you can use the code SOUTHERNMOM50 to get 50% off your first box on the 6 and 12-month plans! That's a HUGE savings!
How Does It Work?
- When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month. The size ranges are incredibly inclusive!
- Once subscribed, you'll receive an email at the end of the month (usually around the 28th) to choose the fabric for the next month's pattern.
- Your box ships out around the 4th of each month.
- You can choose to sew it up on your own using the pattern instructions, use the video tutorials provided in the IndieStitch Membership Hub, and/or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group starting on the Monday around the 14th.
- If on a monthly plan, your membership will renew for the next month between the 13th - 15th.
- The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)
- If you don't like the pattern for the month (or maybe you already own it), you can switch it with a past project you didn't get or swap the pattern out for extra fabric or notions. That way, you'll always get something you'll love to sew!
There is also an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past project boxes, fabrics, and sewing notions.
If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings here.
Monthly Free Gift!
If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects in the group is a great part of the box experience and getting a little gift in your next box is so sweet.
October 2024 Pattern
The pattern we're making this month is the Swan Wrap Sweater from Boo and Lu Patterns!
Swan is an elegant ballet-style wrap sweater, drafted for knit fabrics. Perfect for layering over strappy and sleeveless dresses and tops in cooler weather, or simply to provide more coverage, Swan is a lovely and versatile wardrobe staple. This delicate sweater features two bodice options. The simple bodice gives a clean and timeless aesthetic, or add a touch of modern drama with an asymmetrical bodice that can be worn two ways.
Swan has four sleeve length options: short, 3/4, long, and trumpet. Adult Swan also features two length options- the top falls between the waist and hip, and the crop falls at the waist. With options to keep it classic or give a captivating twist to this graceful piece, Swan will be the perfect choice for everyday wear or special occasions.
October 2024 Fabric Choices
This month we have 9 fabrics to choose from!!!
• Black Stripe Hachi: 66% Polyester, 29% Rayon, 5% Spandex
• Mauve Stripe Hachi: 66% Polyester, 29% Rayon, 5% Spandex
• Large Multi Stripe Waffle: 88% Polyester, 9.5 Rayon, 2.5 Spandex
• Charcoal Waffle: 80% Polyester, 15% Rayon, 5% Spandex
• Teal Hachi Brush: 75% Rayon, 20% Polyester, 5% Spandex
• Soft Yellow: 50% Rayon, 28% Poly, 22% Nylon
• Soft Burnt Orange: 50% Rayon, 28% Poly, 22% Nylon
• Light Gray Sweater: 68% Polyester, 29.5% Rayon, 2.5% Spandex
• Hunter Green Melange Sweater: 52% Rayon, 44% Poly, 4% Nylon
This was a hard choice as so many of these are just my style. I decided to choose based on which one would go with more of my wardrobe instead of choosing my favorite color (I'm looking at you, teal. 🤤) As always, I'll show you the fabric that I chose below!
IndieStitch October 2024 Unboxing
The IndieStitch Box this month looks a bit different. I'm guessing they needed a bigger box than usual for shipping those chonky sweater knits.
As always, it comes with a card on top that includes all of the pertinent information for the month, including a code to download the instructions and a digital version of the pattern for free (you will get a printed version of the pattern in your box.)
It also gives you the current month's Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you to the sewing hub for that month. The flip side details all of the items in your box.
This is a super-soft sweater knit in a light heathered gray. I chose this one because I thought it would look cute on its own with jeans or slacks but also coordinate with my wardrobe as something I can throw over t-shirts and dresses, too. I am a little sad about that teal fabric but I'm happy with my choice!
Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. We have a spool of matching Gütermann thread, two of the correct type and weight of sewing machine needles for our fabric. I also got a couple of bonus bobbin holders in my bag this month!
Next out is our printed pattern, the Swan Wrap Sweater from Boo and Lu Patterns. It's printed on thick copy shop paper so the pattern will last through many uses.
Next out is our 1st extra, a Hedgehog Pin Cushion with a box of butterfly pins! How stinkin' cute is this!!! I'm always down for a new pincushion. I have some unique ones on display in my sewing room but I also use one at my machine and another on the cutting table. This one is adorable.
Last is our 2nd extra, a Sewing Machine Dust Cover! I actually had this on my list of sewing projects so I can mark that off. This is a really nice, sturdy cover with lots of pockets for storing notions and even your machine manual!

That was the IndieStitch October 2024 box. I'm loving this anything-but-ordinary sweater pattern and the fabric options were so good. We also got some really nice "extras." This is going to be one of those projects that you want to wear all of the time!
