I received a complimentary box from IndieStitch in order to facilitate an unboxing post. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links. When you purchase through links on the site, I may earn a small commission, which helps me to bring you this content!

Hi, y'all, I'm back with an unboxing of the IndieStitch Box for April 2025! This month, we'll be sewing up a pair of easy-going pants with a tapered leg made for woven fabrics. I also have an exclusive discount code just for my readers and a spoiler for the May pattern. Let's unbox it!

About IndieStitch

IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for home sewists that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project.

Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.

That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.

Subscription Options

As you can see above, there are 12-month, 6-month, and 1-month plans and the cost per box goes down with the longer plans. This year we get a new option to pre-pay for the plans for an added discount!

Plus, you can use the code SOUTHERNMOM50 to get 50% off your first box on the 6 and 12-month plans! That's a HUGE savings!

How Does It Work?

  • When you sign up for IndieStitch, you'll provide your size range for the printed pattern that comes in your box every month. The size ranges are incredibly inclusive!
  • Once subscribed, you'll receive an email at the end of the month (usually around the 28th) to choose the fabric for the next month's pattern.
  • Your box ships out around the 4th of each month.
  • You can choose to sew it up on your own using the pattern instructions, use the video tutorials provided in the IndieStitch Membership Hub, and/or join the Sew Along that happens in the IndieStitch Facebook group starting on the Monday around the 14th.
  • If on a monthly plan, your membership will renew for the next month between the 13th - 15th.
  • The next month's pattern is revealed on the Second Week of the Month on all social media channels (or here on my blog 😉.)
  • If you don't like the pattern for the month (or maybe you already own it), you can switch it with a past project you didn't get or swap the pattern out for extra fabric or notions. That way, you'll always get something you'll love to sew!

There is also an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past project boxes, fabrics, and sewing notions.

If you'd like to see some of their past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings so far, here.

Monthly Free Gift!

If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects in the group is a great part of the box experience and getting a little gift in your next box is so sweet.

April 2025 Pattern

The pattern we're making this month is the Poppy Pants by Sinclair Patterns!

Relaxed at the hips and through the leg, tapered down easy fitting ankle length pants with shaped front waistband and elasticated back. Comes in full and capri lengths. Optional side pockets and back patch pockets. Full length pants can be finished with regular hems or cuffs.

View A - Full length pants with simple bottom hems and side pockets
View B - Full length pants with cuffed bottom hem and side pockets
View C - Capri length pants with simple bottom hem and back patch pockets

Techniques to master: serging, topstitching, hemming. This pattern is designed to get a professionally looking garment using a standard sewing machine. The pdf pattern is a beginner (2/10)  level and moderately easy to sew. Takes 2-3 hours to finish (time may vary depending on your skills, equipment and supplies).

IndieStitch April 2025 Unboxing

Inside the box, the card on top gives you all of the information you need for the month's project, including a code to download the instructions + a digital version of the pattern for free (you will get the printed pattern in your box.) It also gives you the current month's Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you to the sewing hub for video tutorials. The flip side details all of the items in your box.

Next out is the fabric. I chose the Berry Bloom Cotton Gauze and we received 3 yards to sew up our pants pattern.

I love a cotton gauze for the texture it brings to an outfit and this color is so beautiful! It's a burgundy that is almost an aubergine. Gorgeous!

Next out are the notions to help us make our pattern this month. We have a spool of matching Gütermann thread, two universal needles for wovens in the correct size for the fabric weight, a 35" length of 2" elastic, and a yard of 8" lightweight fusible interfacing.

Next out is our printed pattern, the Poppy Pants by Sinclair Patterns. It's printed on thick copy shop paper so it's extra durable.

Hot Tip: If you do a lot of sewing for family and friends, don't cut your original pattern. Use paper tape (in the First Aid section) to tape together sheets of white gift tissue paper. You can use these to trace off and cut out just the size you need and leave all of the other sizes intact. Tissue paper is super-cheap (check your local dollar store!) and if you use paper tape, you can iron the creases out of your pattern if needed. That comes in handy if you fold the pattern for storage and need to use it again later. Don't forget to label your pieces!

Next out is our 1st "extra", a Magnetic Wrist Pin Cushion. It's more like a keeper than a cushion but it picks up dropped pins like a dream!

Next out is our 2nd extra, a Sewing Finger Pusher. I've never seen one of these before but our card says it's to help with pressing seams. I can see this coming in handy to help with maneuvering fabric under the needle while you sew. Have you ever had a needle go through your fingernail? I have. Luckily, it didn't hit the "meat" but it still hurt like crazy and I've been extra-wary ever since!

Last out is our 3rd extra, a Seed-Bearing Lollipop from Amborella Organics! Another thing I've never seen before and so cool! It's a lollipop with seeds embedded in the stick paper. My daughter and I used to love trying out seed papers! With this treat, you get a yummy marshmallow-flavored sucker and can plant some sage when you're done!
