We love having friends and family over for the holidays, but having them come to stay overnight is even better. More time to catch up, bake, wrap presents, and chill out together is always welcome! Keep reading to find out how I got creative to decorate our guest bath for under $15 (What?! Yes!!!) and how to put together cute holiday-themed toiletry bags for your overnight guests.
Decorating our guest bath for the holidays is a pain. The house is going on 115 years old and this bathroom was last updated in the '50's. The whole bathroom is white with jade green ceramic tile and chrome accents, so coordinating colors during the holidays can be tricky.
I decided on red, white, and silver this year and had a blast shopping for decor. I did it for under $15 by getting creative and I got most of it from Dollar General! I went in for a great deal on paper products for my holiday stock-up but left with a bit more than I intended, but isn't that always how it goes?
Stocking up for the holidays is always a must when you're having guests, whether they're overnight or just there to visit. Really, there's nothing worse than running out of TP when you have a house full of people! Plus, I get the 12 Big Roll package of Angel Soft with Fresh Lavender Scent there for only $5!!! It's soft and strong at a price that won’t break the bank and the tube inside is scented so it smells lovely in there without any kind of room spray!
And how cute are these Mardi Gras napkins?! Each one is printed with a conversation starter. They're great for a party or even for a family dinner to help spark up a conversation about everyone's day.
I had planned on making toiletry bags for our overnight guests because, let's face it, we all forget to pack some pretty crucial stuff sometimes. This way they would have all of their necessaries for any other stops during their trip, too.
I needed some way to put them out for our guests, so I found this cute wire basket in the bathroom decor aisle and it worked perfectly. Of course, it needed some holiday sprucing, so back to the holiday aisle for some wide wired ribbon. Ta-da! From there my decor engine was running!

Next, I caught sight of some pretty glittered ornaments. This sleigh and a set of silver gifts went perfectly together; I just cut the hanging ribbons off! Their size was perfect for this tiny bathroom. It can be placed on just about any surface without being in the way.
I needed a wall hanging and this felt poinsettia flower was so pretty. Can you believe it started its life as a placemat? Just tack it up and you have a jolly and bright piece of wall decor! You could also frame it to look like a higher-end decor piece.
Another repurposing trick I tried was for the shower. Our shower curtain isn't really holiday-themed, so I had been looking for a holiday shower curtain with no luck. (Is it me or does that seem like a thing that should be available somewhere during the holidays?)
I came across this red and white tablecloth and decided to give it a try. This shower is a smaller-than-standard size, so it was a good fit. I put a line of clear packing tape across the top and punched holes for the rings.

Next, I needed something for the sink area. Branches with berries are a quick decor piece for the holidays; Just plunk a few into a vase and you're all set.
and I found these little bags for a dollar each. They're the perfect size to hold what I wanted and were so darn cute.
