Hey, guys! I'm back with an unboxing of BoxyCharm for August 2020, so let's do this! I'll tell you a little about BoxyCharm, all of the products that could be in your August box, what I got in mine, plus I've got SPOILERS for the September box and coupon codes so you can grab some free stuff, too!
If you haven't heard of BoxyCharm, they send out 5 full-size beauty items ranging from makeup and skincare to beauty tools and color cosmetics, and each box has a minimum value of $125. Sometimes the value is much, much more.
It costs $25 a month and has free shipping in the contiguous US. You can also subscribe for 3 months, 6 months, or a year and get a bigger discount for a longer subscription, so you could pay for a year upfront ($275) and end up getting it for $22.92 per box. You can see all of my previous BoxyCharm unboxings here.
So first, let's take a look at every product that could be in the August boxes. I wanted to show you this so that you can see what everyone could possibly get. Some are repeats from past boxes but you'll never receive the same product twice.
You take some pretty in-depth quizzes when you start and that should influence what comes in your boxes. FYI, if you're a member they've changed the quizzes a bit so make sure to go in and re-take them!!!
My first 2 months (January & February) were amazing but since then they've been off. I don't know if the box packing is being affected by the pandemic, so I'm giving them a break.
There are a lot of really great products this month! Before I get into my August box I wanted to show you a couple of items that I wasn't able to before.
I finally got my "choice" product from June, the Tula Glow & Get It Eye Balm (if you didn't see my June unboxing, you can catch that here). I also shopped the Add-On sale for the first time and scored an amazing deal on a new foundation, the Becca Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation.
First, I was able to try out the Tula Glow & Get It Eye Balm ($28) and I'm glad I didn't just give up on it.
"It's time to glow! Tula's probiotic and superfood-packed Glow & Get It Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm instantly cools, hydrates, and brightens the look of undereye dark circles. The revolutionary formula also fills in the look of fine lines around the eyes to give you that "I woke up like this" look. Apply under or on top of makeup for a natural, dewy glow. Even better, the easy-to-use, portable packaging means you can get that lit-from-within glow on the go."
It has a cooling sensation but it also has a brightening sheen to help camouflage dark circles. It looks great under makeup but it's a little too much for a bare face. I'm enjoying this one A LOT.
Next is the Becca Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation ($44) that I got in the sale. I paid $12 + tax (free shipping) for this higher-end foundation and it's truly full-coverage.
"Ultimate Coverage 24 Hour Foundation is BECCA's lightweight, full-coverage foundation with 24-hour wear that stays humidity, sweat, water- and transfer-resistant. A balance of water and concentrated pigments give skin a flexible, natural finish. Camouflage acne, redness, hyperpigmentation, and discoloration with breathable coverage that won't clog pores."
Nothing is coming through that coverage!!! You can sheer it out a bit but it's also waterproof and long-wearing. Loving it!
Now, let's see what I got in my box!
BoxyCharm August 2020 Unboxing
The box includes a card on top listing the items in your box and their values, and August's box theme is Boxy Glamping.
First out is the Choice item. It's the Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Concealer ($29).
"Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer is a hydrating, full-coverage, weightless 4-in-1 concealer that conceals, contours, highlights, and retouches. Smooths and sculpts skin for natural-looking coverage. Infused with coconut water, alpine rose, and hyaluronic acid, these skin-loving ingredients come together for crease-free, weightless wear that's so naturally flawless they'll think you're Born This Way."
I got the shade Pearl but it's a bit too dark for me (lol). I gave it a try anyway and it's not as full coverage as I thought it would be. No one has dethroned Tarte's Shape Tape yet but this is a pretty good formula. If you're looking for a concealer that's not as drying as Shape Tape, this might be the one for you.

Next out is a Mudmasky Blue Light Protection Mask ($54).
"The Blue Light Protection Mask is the world’s first skincare product, which protects your skin like a shielding mask against the HEV light from all your digital devices like your smartphone and laptop.
The Blue Light Protection Mask is specially made for people that spend a lot of time behind a computer screen, laptop, or smartphone. It prevents premature skin-aging caused by HEV-light. The Blue Light Protection Mask does NOT protect your skin from harmful UV-rays from the sun."
Hmmm. I'm not sure how much this will actually do to prevent wrinkles, but it might be a good product to leave at your desk as a reminder to moisturize when you have a bare face, which I do most days now.
Question: does anyone who is working from home right now bother with makeup? I've found myself avoiding it, especially when I have to go out because my mask will just wipe it off.

Next out is a Thank Me Later Eye Primer by Elizabeth Mott ($20).
"This cruelty-free primer enhances your eyeshadow and protects your makeup all day. Have a dinner date after work? No worries, this eyeshadow primer stays locked in all day. So apply in the morning and go all night long without worrying. Need to fit in a quick workout and don’t have time to reapply. We have you covered. Dries quickly and transparently prepping your eyelids for a smooth and even application of your shadow."
This one is a miss for me just because I don't ever use eyeshadow primers. I have hooded lids so nobody is even seeing most of my eyeshadow. We just received one from Violet Voss in May's box, too.
Does anybody know if it works better for creasing than just using a little concealer or foundation and powder?

Next out is the Clarins Velvet Lip Perfector in 01 Velvet Nude ($26).
"Liquid lipstick with a weightless, velvety-matte mousse texture that delivers a highly-pigmented, creamy finish with soft blur-effect. Formulated with conditioning and nourishing Shea Butter to leave lips feeling hydrated for up to 4 hours. Matte, liquid lip color without the compromise."
This is a prime example of finding something new and fabulous in a subscription box that you never would have picked up.
I pretty much only wear a matte finish on my lips but can't keep lipstick on to save my life. That's why I always use liquid lipsticks or crayons/pencils that advertise a long-wear formula. This usually leads to having some very dry lips, though.
I tried this one and I love everything about it, even though it isn't a long-wear lipstick. The applicator was a bit weird to get used to (it squeezes into a fuzzy tip that mimics using a bullet lipstick) but the color is beautiful and the finish is matte, but it feels very creamy on the lips. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and now I want all 4 shades!

Last out is the Butter London Teddy Boy Eyeshadow Palette ($28).
"A highly-pigmented, 9-piece eyeshadow palette featuring wearable matte and shimmer shades with intense color payoff that complements all skin tones. Touch-ups are easy, thanks to the small, easy-to-carry, mirrored compact."
I have to say I was hoping to get the Cargo eyeshadow palette because it looks a lot like the ColourPop Coconuts palette that I've been wanting. As soon as I saw this one in person I was so glad that I received it.
It has a very cool design that opens in the middle and it has a mirror. It's filled with cool-toned neutral shades that is a good mix of mattes and shimmers.
There are matte and shimmer blacks and greys, matte and shimmer browns and taupes, but also a matte bone color to help highlight or lighten/blend and a white shimmer that's perfect to pop in the inner corners or just under the eyebrows to highlight.
This was a really well-thought-out palette for complete everyday eye looks and day-to-night looks. I'm pretty sure I'll be using this a lot.

So, this box was pretty darn good. There were a few misses with the eyeshadow primer and the mask but the hits were so good that I don't mind!
