Hey, guys! I'm here with an unboxing of my replacement BoxyCharm for June 2020. If you didn't notice, there was no June unboxing here because my box got lost in the mail. I ordered a replacement June box asap from BoxyCharm, it arrived after my July box, but there was another problem... 🤦‍♀️

Let's unbox it. I'll tell you a little about BoxyCharm, all of the products that could have been in the June box, and what I got in mine so we can check their profile-matching skills. I usually have spoilers and coupons for the next month, but it is the next month. 🤷‍♀️Check out the July unboxing post for August's spoilers and coupons.

About BoxyCharm

If you haven't heard of BoxyCharm, they send out 5 full-size beauty items ranging from makeup and skincare to beauty tools and hair care, and you get to choose one of the items in your box each month. The boxes have a minimum value of $125 and sometimes the value is much, much more.

It costs $25 a month and has free shipping in the contiguous US. You can also subscribe for 3 months, 6 months, or a year and get a bigger discount for a longer subscription, so you could pay for a year upfront ($275) and end up getting it for $22.92 per box. You can see all of my previous BoxyCharm unboxings here.

So first, let's take a look at every product that could have been in the June boxes. I wanted to show you this so that you can see what everyone could possibly get. There are a lot more products than there usually are and some of them are repeats from past boxes.

You take some pretty in-depth quizzes when you start and that should influence what comes in your boxes. Should. Usually does? Did before quarantine started?

I subscribed in time for January's box this year. My first 3 boxes were amazing but April started seeing them choose items for my boxes that I stated in my profile that I definitely didn't want. It started with 1 product and went down from there. I keep waiting on them to bounce back but 4 not-great boxes later, I'm still waiting.

This replacement box, though? On the surface, it looks like a good box. Great brands, great products, right?

  • Problem #1: I got the wrong choice item. (I chose the Tula Glow & Get It Eye Balm but got the QMS Lip Line Corrector. No shade QMS, but my lip lines don't need correcting? My eye bags do, though.)
  • Problem #2: I got a majority skincare box when I sub for a majority makeup box (you input that in your profile and that means that I should get 1 or a max of 2 skincare products per box. That also means I didn't get an eye palette in the box, which is pretty much why I subscribed in the first place. June had some ridiculously gorgeous palettes from Shared Planet that I was straight-up drooling over and I didn't get one. 😫)
  • Problem #3: They sent me the wrong shade for the Purlisse BB Cream (the one thing I was rooting to get, lol).

I'm done ranting. Almost. I contacted customer service and after not getting back to me, I sent a pretty...strongly worded message. They got back pretty quickly after that and made it (kind of) right by mailing out the Tula choice product and giving me some "points" for the BB Cream. It's better than nothing, I guess.

The brands/products that I got weren't bad. I'm a big fan of both Purlisse and First Aid Beauty. I think I'm just upset that after FedEx lost my box, they sent me a random replacement box that wasn't based on my profile at all, which is what I'm paying for. I may also be a little salty that someone out there is rocking my Shared Planet palette. 🤬

Now, let's see what I got in my replacement box!

The box includes a card on top listing the items in your box and their values, and June's box theme was The Oasis.

First out is a Choice item. Not mine, but hey. It's the QMS Medicosmetics Lip Line Corrector ($200). 😳😳😳Wut?

"Formulated exclusively for the upper lip area, Lip Line Corrector targets fine line and wrinkles. This high-performance lightweight serum is specifically designed to hydrate and plump lips for a smoother, youthful appearance."

Ummm...okay. I feel like I've had a product from this brand before but I know I didn't pay $200 for it. This is very expensive for 1/2 an ounce of such a specialized serum. I mean, I've used some high-priced skincare but I think this is one of the most expensive single skincare items I've ever had and it's for...vertical lip lines. I don't have any of those, but maybe it will work for crow's feet? Will it make me look 20 again? I'll let you know. 😅

Next out is a Kylie Skin Foaming Face Wash ($24).

"KYLIE SKIN Foaming Face Wash is infused with ultra-nourishing kiwi seed oil, packed with Vitamin C and E to help maintain moisture and improve elasticity. This gentle formula cleanses skin by helping to remove dirt, oil, and makeup for a fresh, bright complexion."

I don't know anything about Kylie Skin as I haven't ever used any of Kylie Jenner's products. It's a large size for the price, which is good and some of the ingredients sound gentle/nourishing.

Next out is a Purlisse Perfect Glow BB Cream SPF 30 ($35).

"Complexion perfection for a gorgeous matte meets dewy finish! Your multi-tasking beauty balm that glides on like a tinted moisturizer with all the age-defying, coverage, sunscreen benefits of a foundation and BB cream! It's perfect for getting that Instagram-filtered version of yourself, featuring our exclusive Asian Herb extracts complex."

I love Purlisse's skincare and this BB cream sounds amazing. I had my fingers crossed that I would get this one because I've been looking for a good BB Cream/light coverage moisturizer for summer; Something I could slap on in the mornings and look a little more put together without having to do the whole foundation routine and have it melt off by lunchtime.

Sadly, I'm somewhere between Fair & Light but was sent the Light Medium. With only 11 shades across the whole skin color spectrum, that means this would be waaaay too dark for me. I mean, I could try it just to see if I like the formula, but I wouldn't be able to leave the house wearing it. 😂

Next out is First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA (Only found it online in 8 oz. and 2 oz. but the 4 oz. shown here is $18).

"A body scrub with chemical and physical exfoliators that sweep away dry, rough bumps to reveal healthier-looking skin that feels exceptionally smooth. This fast-acting KP body scrub delivers the benefits of a chemical peel and microdermabrasion treatment in one. Glycolic and Lactic Acids at a combined level of 10% help loosen skin top layer and decongest pores with Pumice Buffing Beads that whisk it all away. This clean formulation is allergy tested, safe for sensitive skin, and fragrance-free."

I'm a fan of First Aid Beauty but at first glance, I thought this was another product I don't have a use for. After reading the descriptions online, it just sounds like a really good body exfoliator. I don't have bumps but I sure as heck have a lot of dry skin! I'll be giving this one a try.

Last out is the Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Illuminati ($27).

"Embrace your glow like a true glow-getter. Diamond Glow Powders were created with versatility and customization in mind. Start with a subtle, luminous sheen or build this powder up for an intense, amplified look. Mix your favorite shades to create a "couture cocktail" and take your highlight game to the next level. Apply it on your face, eyes, lips, body—or wherever and however you want. Diamond Glow Powder is designed for all skin tones and types, so everyone can find their go-to glow."

Illuminati is an iridescent silver and champagne color and I love the sifter. Usually, products sift right into the lid and I hate that! I always seem to unscrew half of the product onto my lap. This one has an opening that can be turned from the sifter side to close it before screwing on the lid. Nice.

Unfortunately, I have so many highlighters from subscription boxes that I put in my BoxyCharm profile that I didn't want any more highlighters. I'll have to find a good home for this one.

So, this box was...not great. No fault of any of these brands, as there are some really good ones here, I just received a lot of stuff that I can't really use or have a ton of already.

I'll try the BB Cream for formula while looking like Early Tan Mom for a day, and I'll probably enjoy the body scrub, but really, the rest of the box was a loss. Maybe the lip line corrector will give me a DIY facelift? We shall see.

The value of the BoxyCharm box I received was $304.
