I received a complimentary box from IndieStitch in order to facilitate an unboxing post. All opinions are my own. This post may contain some affiliate links.

Hi, y'all! I'm back with an unboxing of IndieStitch, a monthly apparel sewing subscription box, for August 2026. This month, we'll be sewing up a square-neck blouse with 4 sleeve variations that can be your new summer staple or help you transition into fall weather. I'll show you everything that came in this month's box + I have the current promotion and a spoiler for the September pattern. Let's unbox it!

About IndieStitch

IndieStitch is a monthly subscription box for home sewists that provides you with everything you need to complete a beginner-friendly clothing project and learn some new techniques!

Sit back, sew, and savor the joy of making. We handle the sourcing so you can focus on the stitching. Expertly curated women’s clothing projects, premium fabrics, and community support—all in one box.

That’s what makes IndieStitch so special. When you open up your box, you’ll have exactly what you need to get back to sewing for you.

Subscription Options

The subscription is month-to-month, $86 per box. Once subscribed, you will get the option to pre-pay for 6 additional months for $430. That will bring the per-box price down to $71.67, so it's a great way to get a discount! If you don't see the offer pop up, check for the upgrade option in your account.

There is also an IndieStitch shop where you can buy some of the past project boxes, fabrics, and sewing notions.

If you'd like to see some past boxes, check out all of my IndieStitch unboxings here.

Monthly Free Gift!

If you complete the current month's project and post it to the IndieStitch Community Sew Along Facebook group before the end of the month, you will earn a free gift in your next box! Following along and seeing everyone's projects is a great part of the box experience, and getting a little gift in your next box is so sweet!

August 2026 Pattern

The piece we're making this month is the Zara Square Neck Blouse from Ellie & Mac!

This versatile blouse features a timeless square neckline, flattering shaping, and plenty of options to make it your own. Choose from sleeveless or multiple sleeve lengths, plus high-hip or hip lengths to suit your style. It's a fun project that creates a polished top you'll wear season after season!

I absolutely loved the matching top and pants set shown in the first pattern photo. Since it's still firmly summer where I am, I've decided to make the sleeveless tank version in a cropped length and see if I have enough fabric left to make a matching set of shorts.

August 2026 Fabric Choices

This month’s fabric lineup includes several different fabric types, each with its own drape, texture, and structure. Choose a crisp cotton poplin, a breezy voile, a soft lyocell blend, or a floaty polyester print to create a Zara that fits your style.

  1. Lavender Lyocell Blend: 45% Lyocell, 42% Viscose Rayon, 9% Nylon, 4% Linen
  2. Orange Stripe Linen Blend: 40% Linen, 30% Polyester, 30% Cotton
  3. Red & Blue Floral Poplin: 100% Cotton
  4. Gray Viscose Rayon Twill: 55% Viscose Rayon, 45% Polyester
  5. Cyan Viscose Voile: 100% Rayon
  6. Yellow Floral Poplin: 100% Cotton
  7. Black Micro Dot CEY: 100% Polyester
  8. Green Lyocell Blend: 45% Lyocell, 42% Viscose Rayon, 9% Nylon, 4% Linen
  9. Pale Blue Cotton Voile: 100% Cotton
  10. Floral Swiss Dot Chiffon: 100% Polyester

As always, you'll see which fabric I chose in the unboxing below.

Oof, my package looks like it was busted open and taped up at the post office. Luckily, I don't think anything was missing...

Inside the box, the card on top lists all of the information you need for the month's project, including a code to download the instructions + a digital version of the pattern for free (you will get the printed pattern in your box).

It also gives you this month's Community Sew Along dates and a QR code that takes you directly to the Indiestitch Hub for the month's video tutorial and resources. The other side of the card details the items in the box and gives you a spoiler for next month's pattern.

First out is the fabric. I chose the Orange Stripe Linen Blend.

I'm not a big fan of orange, but this orange was quite muted, and I loved the stripes. It reminds me of a Turkish towel, and that screams summer to me. It's also quite crisp, so it will give the top some nice structure.

Next are the notions to help us make our pattern this month: a large piece of lightweight iron-on interfacing, a spool of coordinating Guterrmann thread, and two universal needles for wovens in the correct size for the fabric weight.

We received a 'Seam Finishes for Woven Fabrics' Sewing Reference card for this month. These cards are a mini sewing lesson and a great add-on to the boxes!

Next out is our printed pattern, the Zara Square Neck Blouse from Ellie & Mac. It's printed on a thick copyshop paper, making it more durable to reuse for years to come.

Next is our 1st extra item, a Silicone Storage Caddy. "Keep your sewing essentials organized with this silicone storage caddy. Its flexible design is perfect for storing small sewing tools, notions, or accessories upright, making it easy to keep everything together and ready for your next project."

Next is our 2nd extra item, a set of 3 Fruit Sewing Labels. These are so stinkin' cute! I love getting extra sewing labels as I use one for every project.

Last out is our 3rd extra item, a Plush Sewing Keychain. "Carry a little sewing charm wherever you go with this adorable Sewing Keychain. Clip it onto your keys, sewing bag, or tote for a fun accessory that shows off your love for sewing while keeping your essentials close at hand."
