Summer Camp can be an amazing experience for kids. It’s one that they will remember fondly for the rest of their lives, even if they don't recall how they got sunburnt, had an earache from swimming in the lake, or came home with poison ivy. With 2 kids in camp this summer, I've learned a few tricks, like packing a post-summer camp med bag to take with you to pick them up. The last thing you want your child to have to deal with is an upset stomach for the entire trip home. You can nip any ills in the bud immediately!

Packing a post-summer camp essentials bag is super-easy and I've chosen a lot of these items because they can take care of multiple problems, but there is one item that can't be duplicated: Hyland’s Earache Drops.

THIS is the brand you need if your child has been swimming in non-chlorinated water, like a lake or the ocean. It's a natural, homeopathically-prepared blend of botanicals and minerals that helps relieve symptoms of earaches including fever, pain, irritability, and sleeplessness. Find out more, including where you can get them, here.

We can pack all of the essentials for them before they go, but we can't be there to make them use them. The last time my son came home from camp, not only was he severely sunburned (even though I packed sunscreen), bug bitten (even though I packed bug spray), and with an earache and loss of hearing in one ear from swimming in the lake, and he didn't bother to tell a counselor.

So now when I pick them up, I'm completely prepared to take care of any problems before we get back on the road.

Post-Summer Camp Essentials

Any kind of bag will do, just throw these essentials in and you're ready for anything!
  • bandages + antibiotic cream with pain relief (for cuts, scratches, bug bites scratched open)
  • Hyland's Earache Drops (fever, pain, irritability, sleeplessness due to earache)
  • Tweezers (splinters)
  • aloe sunburn gel with pain relief and cooling properties
  • calamine lotion (itchy bug bites/stings, poison ivy welts)
  • Bismuth Subsalicylate (nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea)

If you have kids going to camp this summer, I hope this Post-Summer Camp Essentials, ready-for-anything bag will help you take care of any little problems before they become big problems.
