Homemade Ranch Dressing (Better Than Anything at the Store!)
Wednesday, January 16, 2019
Hey, guys! Today I have a recipe for a popular salad dressing and dip flavor: Ranch! It's so easy to make it yourself and tastes so much fresher than store-bought. This is my go-to recipe and you can use it for a thicker veggie dip or for a pourable salad dressing. If you love fresh restaurant-style ranch, you'll love this recipe!
I actually had another post planned, but if you watch my Instagram stories, you know that I had a little kitchen accident. Specifically, a #mandolinslicerfail. Since I'm not going to be kneading any dough for a while, I'm posting a recipe that I've been meaning to for a while now (since last year, really.)
I like to do recipes in series, as in 'a series of pizza recipes', and last year I started with a Ginger Sesame Dressing for New Year. I meant to post this one and my mom's Parmesan Lemon Dressing, but time just got away from me. So, since I can't knead, I'll mix. :)
This is not "low fat" or "low cal" in any way, so why did I want to post this one after New Year's? Because I find that a delicious dressing can get you eating your greens, fast! I'm more about moderation and balanced nutrition, so anything that helps with that goal is fine. In moderation. ;)
When it comes to ranch dressing, fresher is better. Truly. For me, the bottled dressings taste overly oily. They're okay in a pinch, but once you try this homemade ranch dressing, you won't want to go back.
You'll need to raid your spice cabinet for this one, but you can make the spice mix ahead of time to whip up dressing whenever you like and it'll keep in the fridge for about a week...if it lasts that long. If you're anything like me, you'll invent new ways to use it up!

Ingredients:
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, mix together all of the spices.
2. Whisk in the sour cream and mayo.
This will make a pretty thick dip-like ranch. If you wanted to make a dip, stop here. You're done!
3. To turn it into a more pourable mixture. Whisk in the milk, starting with 1-2 Tablespoons. If you want it thinner, add in the 2nd and 3rd tablespoons. You can make this as thick or thin as you prefer!
Pour it into an airtight container and store in the fridge.
