Hope you're loving the Mommy & Me Homemade Spa Day Series! I've had a blast making it for you. The next-to-last last DIY project is Lavender & Honey Shea Soap!

Kids love fun shaped, colored, and scented soap, and it's much easier to create your own than you might have thought. Just a few simple ingredients and you can create shaped soap bars that your child will love! These shaped soap bars are natural, moisturizing, and the lavender is great as part of your bedtime routine to relax and calm little minds (mom loves this soap too!)

After the mixture comes off the stove this is a fun project for little ones to get involved in. My daughter loves to add in color, stir and pop the finished soaps from the molds. We like to make them as party favors or fill a mason jar with them for a unique birthday gift.

You can, of course, use any mold shape that you like, I loved this mold that I linked below because it gave a good round side that was the perfect size and shape for little hands to hold and use, but also a flat side that sits well on the edge of the tub without rolling off.

Lavender & Honey Shea Soap recipe

You will need:

Directions:

  1. Place the melt and pour shea soap and coconut oil in a small saucepan over medium heat (I bought a cheap pot to use just for soap and other DIY projects.)

  2. Stir frequently until mixture is completely melted.
  3. Remove pot from heat and stir in essential oil.
  4. Stir in honey.

  5. If desired stir in hibiscus powder until you get the desired shade. This is a good natural colorant to use in place of food coloring and has extra benefits for the skin, but you can use a drop or two of food coloring if you like.

  6. Pour soap into molds, I poured half of mine without color then stirred in my coloring before pouring the rest for a fun variation.

  7. Allow to set overnight, then pop soap from molds and it is ready to use. Store soap in a cool dry place until use.
